I was thinking that Philli might acquire the 10th from NO to get their hometown boy, but this scenario seems more realistic from a Raptors perspective. great insight!

I like the theory of NOH moving #10 for Iggy and then Philadelphia picking him up. NOH being in on Iggy or Gay fits to me. Then they can do the whole we have a Jack, Gordon, Iguodala, Anthony Davis and Okafor starting 5 and a great coach, we're a top 6 seed right now thing. Actually that's a potentially SICK defensive team, Monty Williams is very defense friendly as well

That certainly fits the narrative of the trade talk, but is Philly really ready to give up on Evan Turner?

from hoopsworld
• Dion Waiters has pulled out of all workouts and interviews, which means he likely has a promise from a team in the top ten. Waiters’ stock has increased rapidly in recent weeks. League sources speculate that the Toronto Raptors have given him a promise at #8.

Actually it looks like that deal would need Okafor or a Jack/Ariza contract to be involved. Still could see it.

What?

You honestly thought Bayless and Davis were going to start over Calderon and Bargnani?

Bargnani missed half the season so it would really be Davis starting over Amir.

If it were me and I promised Dion Waiters to pick him with the 8th overal, I would need Rudy Gay or Iguodala (preferably the former) coming over and Demar/Jose/Amir (instead of Ed for salary reasons) heading out. Then sign Nash and a vet sg and have waiters play barbosa type role.

And Aaron Gray

I was just thinking...

New Orleans trades Trevor Ariza, Jason Smith, #10

Philadelphia trades Andre Iguodala

Looks good for both sides to me. Philly restocks with two top 15 picks in a deep draft. Ariza can play for them. Maybe they pick up Waiters with that promise at 10. And getting Iggy is amazing for New Orleans. Jack, Gordon, Iggy, Davis, Okafor with Monty Williams defense is awesome immediately.

True....and even then I don't see how Casey not starting Bayless or Davis indicates any larger preference for not starting rookies.

Neither of those guys has half the potential that Jonas does.

no, its because Jose is a better PG than Bayless and Ed Davis has neither the experience nor resume to show that he deserved to start in the NBA.

Not to mention that Bayless was hurt for so much of the season and Calderon was often the best player on the team while Bargs was out, so putting Bayless as the starter would be strange to say the least.

And as we found out later Davis was a bit out of shape at the start of the season and in the time he did get he didn't look very good until towards the very end.

I see no particular bias against young players on Casey's part.

If it's the Raptors who promised him for the 8th pick, wouldn't that eliminate all the trade the draft pick talks?

Well, unless the plan is to pick him for another team and then trade him to that team.

If he's going top-4 that's beyond mind boggling. I've been riding his jock all season calling him the steal of the draft, but I never thought he'd be THAT much of a steal. Hire me, fire Jim Kelly! :D

I think that 8 (Waiters) + Ed and Jose to Philly for Iggy and the 15th rumor is starting to make a little more sense now.

4th is possible because CLE probably isn't taking Robinson and Drummond is a thing where I could see some teams just in "hell naw" mode with taking him. So 1 2 3 goes Davis, MKG, Beal and then the door opens for a off the board pick. Cleveland taking Tristan Thompson was a bigger reach than Dion Waiters would be

But if Philly wants DeMar rather than a pick, and would prefer to keep the 15th for depth, an alternate scenario is easily arranged.

A deal like Demar/Davis/Calderon for Iggy would be atrocious for Philadelphia. To everyone else Demar is a medicore swing with a 12.8 PER in his 3rd season. He's also the last type of player Philadelphia needs and plays Evan Turner's position. Finally, he has to be paid in a year. If Demar got included in that PHI source's trade, it would be #8, Demar, Davis, Calderon for Iguodala and #15. That's a fair trade.

Demar can't replace an 8th overall pick, I'd bet against him replacing a 20th overall pick. To everyone else he's the way we see Gerald Henderson. C level high volume guard on a bad team who has to be paid soon. How quickly would we laugh Charlotte off the phone if they offered Henderson for #8.

Iguodala had a PER of just above 17. Why is everyone so fascinated by him? The guy is 28, mediocre and can't shoot and people want to give up 2 out of our last 3 lottery picks, Calderon and swap our 8th for Philly's 15th?

Though he is owed a **** load of money, at least Gay has shown the ability to take over games in the clutch, and is only 25. I watched Philly play, and Iguodala was mostly a spectator on most nights.
