I with eastside!!!

I will gladly take Lamb and get an extra pick for the Deandre JOrdan of 2012 (PJ3). AND if I had only one pick, I'd still go with Jones; but that's just me :D

I dont like Rivers... but I think he will do a lot better in the NBA than he did at Duke based on the fact that he is really good at 1on1 driving and is lightening quick. In college, the floor isn't spaced as good because the 3 point line is closer. Plus, there is no illegal defense, so they just pack it in.

There are certain guys that excel in the NBA and not college because it fits their style better (Westbrook, Rondo, etc). Not saying Rivers will be as good as those guys... just saying that I think taking him wouldn't be such a bad thing.

JMac1 wrote:Kerrsed, why are you so hung up on an undersized 2 guard?! I am all for the hype of Rivers (main reason he is rising), but it is a novelty that will eventually wear off, then he will only be judge on his game;

do you really believe his game is cleary better than Lamb or Waiters?

At this point i dont think his all around game is better than Lambs, but i have a feeling he will end up the better player. Lambs stock has been dropping and fast. Watch any of his interviews, hell, watch them all. You will see that his attitude is very poor and he ends up coming off sounding semi mentally ra-tarded. His drive seems like it is severely lacking and it comes off like he doesnt care. If you look at article written about him for the past 2 years, his competitiveness has always been questioned. He reminds me of Marvin Williams.

As for Waiters, im kind of torn. I think he could be a head strong, Wade type of player, but i havent seen enough from him. From what i have seen, he could be a Westbrook type PG if he puts everything together. IF. He was forced to come off the bench his sophomore season due to disciplinary reasons from his Freshman year. Even as the best player on that 'Cuse team, he was limited to a little over 20 minutes off the bench. I think its a risky pick. It could majorly pay off for us, or could just blow up in our face. Even though he could be a risk, i would rather take that risk on him over Lamb.

JMac1 wrote:It's funny....people disregard what Lamb has done on the floor and point to his affect which hasn't stopped him from being a very good player, yet they assume it will in the future?? But when it comes to Rivers, people excuse his lack of court production, and believe he will do better because Rivers says so?????

Talk is cheap!

I have spent ALOT of time in this Offseason reading, watching player breakdowns, and games DVR'd from earlier in the College season. I dont believe he will be better because Rivers thinks and says so, i think he will be better because i think so! As for this "lack of court production", 1 bad season at Duke doesnt mean he cant produce. Hell, his season wasnt even that bad! As every expert has said numerous times before, Rivers game fits the NBA way better than college ball. Look at his senior year in HS. Rivers had 5 games in his senior year where he scored 40+ points, including a 46 point game over the #4 ranked team in the US, and a 42 point game where he sat out the entire 4th quarter.

Read this wonderful article on ValleyoftheSuns.com, it points out exactly why Rivers will become that guy that we need.

I'm with Kerrsed. Lamb isn't clearly better than Rivers, and he's not even the right fit for us. He's more of an off the ball guy. We need someone who can get baskets themselves. Rivers is that guy. and Lamb isn't helping his case with his interviews.

I know it sounds stupid, but I like the idea of drafting Rivers simply from a marketing standpoint for our franchise. Just do something to keep us from the absolute cellar of the NBA in terms of revenue. He would definitely provide excitement, although he could truly be the 2nd best player in the draft when all is said and done. My main gripes with him as a player are his lack of defense (although he could certainly learn to become decent in that respect), his poor assist/turnover ratio (which is frightening for a player who handles the ball so much), and his rather inefficient shooting. Still though, I love his competitive drive, his ability in isolation (which could benefit him much more in the pros), as well as his all around potential as an NBA star.

In complete agreement with you on this. We need a face of the franchise and he has the most recognized in the draft outside of Davis. Love the competitiveness. To me that guarantees that he will be at least a good player given his skill set. According to all reports he knows how to work. With that he will improve in his deficiencies.

I'm not a fan of Rivers but I totally agree with you about the marketing point of view. I definitely could see him sparking media interest for Phoenix like how Jennings did for the Bucks and Wall for the Wizards. If he wasn't the son of Doc Rivers, I'm not so sure he would be as hyped as he is. But yeah, his swag and on-court demeanor reminds me of when Jennings was coming into the NBA. Some serious flaws to his game, but his swagger and ability to score could get the media excited about Phoenix again.

The fact that we havent worked out any SG's has me believing more and more that we already gave a promise to one (Rivers or Waiters). Why would we work them out if we already gave a promise to one?

We then throw up a PF semi-smoke screen. Work out about 4 early 1st round PF's and 4 late 1st round PF's. We are looking for some size and are most likely getting a real good look at what we can secure with a mid to late 1st. Having them workout with the higher rated guys shows what they are really made of and what makes them stand out. It also makes teams around the league think that we just might go with a big at #13,

The #13 pick has already been promised to Rivers or Waiters, now we are looking at what we can secure with an added pick. Thats what i see currently playing out.

The one question i do have is why is Lillard coming here? There is no way that he falls to us. NO WAY! Could the Suns be interested in him to a point where they make a draft day trade and try to scoop up one of the many lotto picks available? I mean, every team that has shown interest in Lillard are all teams that are also looking at moving their pick. Portland/Toronto/New Orleans couldnt draft him if say we trade for the #8 pick. But like i said, thats only if they are enamored with him.

I checked out some of the vids Kerrsed and links etc others have posted and I just don't see how you could take Waiters over Rivers...There's nothing I see in his game that makes me think he won't be another undersized SG who can masquerade as a PG at times...I think he's another Toney Douglas to be honest

Rivers appears to have the swagger and attitude that could make him a legit star...In saying that it's still a complete crapshoot haha

Damn. Im hearing Chicago might be making a play for that #8 pick. Deng/#29 to Toronto for Calderon/#8. Bulls would then be looking at a 2 guard with that pick. They also get out of Dengs deal, while picking up a short term solution for PG while Rose is out. Toronto gets that impact SF that they have been rumored to be looking for, while also improving the team enough to try to score Nash as a FA.

Im guessing Chicago would then be targeting Lamb with the #8 pick. They need a long and defensive 2 guard to put next to Rose. One that doesnt need the ball in his hands to score.

With Rose injured, they may indeed take someone like Rivers who can be the scorer they desperately need. And then when Rose gets back, he can take some of the pressure off the recovering Rose and help out with the scoring.

That would be a great trade for Toronto if they get Nash. Deng is an excellent defender.

I dont see why the Bulls would do that. If it hadn't been for Rose going down this year, I'm pretty sure they would have at least faced Miami in the Conference Finals. I dont see the need for a youth movement and bringing in the #8 pick while shipping out your second best player when this team (minus Derrick Rose next season) is built for a championship.

Shipping out Deng leaves a huge hole at SF for CHicago as well. Theyare better off signing a vet PG to a large one year deal, and get ready for season 2013 when Rose is back.

What do you guys think of Evan Fournier? Looks to me like his ceiling can be up there with Ginobili....

Euro scouts say that he would be a lottery pick if he had played vs Beal, Rivers etc.

If Lillard or PJII drop to #13 and we're able to acquire another pick in the 1st round, I wouldn't mind picking one of them and then drafting this kid with the other pick as our future SG.

He's a SG at 6'7, 205 lb, and he's barely 19. Worth the risk imo.
