Why are you so fixed on staying in Pittsburgh? Unless you are married or have a stable relationship with someone who has a great career going there, I'd suggest moving around for the best job/experience.

Starting salary for an engineer is not a small income and you could likely live anywhere on the north-east and be a short flight from your family.

That's my search zone. I just like the city of Pittsburgh. I'm 4 hours from my family. I didn't grow up here and never visited pre college.
