Is anyone else nervous because tomorrow is the official return of the Charlotte Hornets? I'm terrified the NBA is going to use the #9 envelope to officially debut that logo.

It doesn't, nor has it ever worked that way. It will have our logo on it whether we lose the pick or not.

Detroit has enough talent to win games with or without a lottery pick. Chemistry is the obvious target to tackle here, but I'm all for placing in the top 3. Any of those guys with SVG has me excited.

On the envelope, yes, but the logo on the screen becomes Charlotte's logo if we finish 9th.

This is the year we jump into the top 3. After today, we will be debating between Wiggins or Parker and the future will be bright with 1 of those 2 + Monroe/Drummond + SVG. It will be a new era of Pistons basketball, I hope. Please God?!

The Stan Van Gundy hire has greatly lessened any blow of losing the pick in my mind as well. I think we will make HUGE improvements internally with our current roster alone that I am really excited about.

While that's true, a SVG team led with Marcus Smart or Wiggins/Exum/Parker is really exciting.

^Folks deluding themselves with all this top three talk are just setting themselves up to be disappointed. I bet you folks start spending your lotto winnings every time you buy a powerball ticket as well.

While acquiring SVG to pilot things has helped to lessen the blow of such a crappy season, I would love to see us retain the pick. I'm dreaming of a top 3 pick while bracing myself for losing the pick. With a clear screechy voice leading us, I'm expecting max effort night in a night out as well as a clear direction.

If guys gave consistent effort last year we would not be a lottery team.

All this trepidation and suffering!? Because the owner was too cheap to amnesty Gordon, one day the Pistons will surrender a 1st round pick to the Hornets. Could be tonight or next year. It's done and there's nothing to do. The draft is only one thing impacting this team. Lots of changes and hopefully better basketball ahead. :D

yep

Silver can either strengthen the budding Hornets who played well against the heat

or take pity on the lowly Pistons

please take pity on us, Lord Silver. Let us keep our pick

that draft thread will look might silly if we end up not even having a first rounder  everyone should have been scouting second round targets!

I feel optimistic about this too. Almost every year a team jumps into the top 3 and I just feel like it's our time. The East needs more legit contenders and with a top 3 pick and an elite coach, we'll finally be in a position to start to move into that role.

No conspiracy theory, no anxiety, I just think it's time.

Ran it ten times, we kept our pick 8 times, lost it twice. I was really hoping to see a move up, but no sale.

ESPN also had us drafting Douggie Buckets, which I'm meh on too.

Charlotte has largely squandered several high level picks over the past few years, why would we expect a #9 selection to turn them into a real threat? Conversely, we've drafted well in the mid-late lottery, have an owner who has invested greatly in the team, the arena and the city, and have a club that would be poised to finally breakthrough with a top 3 pick. The NBA as a whole benefits more from elevating another iconic team in the East than they do with fortifying a middling franchise.

Fine.

It's top 3 or bust, imo, anyways.
