Isn't Bledsoe restricted himself? Meaning that the Rockets could not sign him and match Parsons as they have to maintain the cap room through the 3 days.

Did Houston not learn after they signed him last time he had a contract year?

They should just trade a second round pick for Josh Smith and Brandon Jennings and call it a day.

Morey the wheeler-dealer seems to have gotten the short end of the stick here

I still can't believe they lost Asik, Lin, and a future 1st and came up empty. Might be the biggest blunder of the off-season.

I feel Morey had this coming with his attitude to players. I feel bad for Houston fans tho

Why is everyone railing against Morey when a lot of their fans have probably been just as bad. Look at all the incidents they've had with players: cheering when Matt Schaub got injured, threatening him at his own house, booing and mocking Lin. I'm not saying all their fans are like this but it from all the incidents they've had and from reading Clutchfans, it seems like they have a really unsupportive fan-base.

Holy ****. In just a few hours they might have went from Western Conference contender to possibly staring at a scenario where they are fighting for those 6-7-8 seeds.

The pick is a loss. Lin is addition by subtraction.

This would actually be smart for them

Jennings/Harden/Parsons/Smith/Howard is better than what they have now

Reading Clutchfans is as bad as reading jeremylin.net.

Losing Lin is not addition by subtraction. He is a valuable and productive player off the bench.

If the Lakers and Rockets waited to complete the Lin trade until after the Rockets matched the Parsons' offer sheet, wouldn't the Rockets get a trade exception since the Rockets would be over the cap after matching Parsons? They might have to add a little more sweetener to get the Lakers to do that though.

Bledsoe is also an RFA meaning they cannot do that because Suns have 3 days to match, therefore Parsons would need to be signed first, which means they wouldn't have the cap space IIRC.

I think it's over for Houston.
Instead of getting Bosh/Melo + Parsons, they're likely going to lose all 3, lose Lin + pick to dump him, and field a WORSE team after all that. Unless of course they plan to match Parsons still, which would be silly...

i honestly don't understand this assets talk. almost every team does the same thing, somehow morey just got exposed about it. on the other hand they have tons of cap space plus howard an harden. at the worst they strengthen their bench with cap space and match parsons contract, it's not like they have a bad roster anyway.

They don't have cap space. Using Parsons' Bird Rights to sign him over the cap is how they were going to be able to bring in Bosh. If they match him they are close to the cap.

i know, they still have 2 days to do the same. instead of bosh just add some bench players.

Yeah, they can try to add a couple of mid-level guys like Ariza, Deng etc. over the next 2 days then match Parsons. That's their only viable option now if they want to compete.

Bosh is now the most over paid NBA player. They will just match Parsons and have cap space for next season.
