Who's Rondo? Do you mean little Shaq?

If you mean he can dominate a game and help your team in so many ways, but just bad at making free throws, then yes, Rondo is Little Shaq. And I'll do everything in my power to keep him and surround him with all-star talent.

No, I only meant the FT part. Shaq was the main reason his teams won. He dominated in offense, protected the rim, controlled the glass. Rondo is a supporting player, not a superstar like Shaq.

"Philosophically, we know who the players are, we know who the guys are that we would love to get," Ainge told Bleacher Report. "But we also know that certain players don't make as much of a difference. We can't sell our stockpile of assets just to appease one player. We've got to be smart in rebuilding. And we do have to remain patient. And yet at the same time, be ready to jump into the fray and pay a high price for special players, transcendent players."

I'm getting the same feeling here, just read that executives told Bleacher Report Ainge isn't looking to trade him. If I was going to give Rondo the max, I'd put a little incentive in there regarding his free throw percentage and field goal percentage.

Wow, bleacherreport has come a long way.

Man, I'd love to know who's on Ainge's list of difference makers.

From that bleacher report article:

Team officials consider [Olynyk] a future star.

At present, none of the Celtics' young prospects merit that label—but then, few people predicted that Al Jefferson would become a dominant post scorer when the Celtics shipped him to Minnesota as part of the package for Garnett seven years ago.

Interesting to hear we're so high on Olynyk.. That could mean he's our prime trade chip, or a building block- but at least it tells you we won't move him unless it's for something big. Also suggests Sullinger could be more likely to go..

Bass/Sullinger for Mclemore and Carl Landry?

Maybe if the guy had some talent to work with he wouldn't need to fire up 3's or 20 foot jumpers with the shot clock/game clock running out at the end of games. It's not his fault we don't have a Paul Pierce or legit all star wing guy we can iso at the end of games like most contenders have. I love all the Rondo hate..........this guy is far and away our best player and a legit talent but let's blame him instead of the ham and eggers Danny has surrounded him with. Only in Boston. Just like all the know-it-alls blaming Brady earlier this year and the Red Sox problems on Papi. What a joke.

Rondo not getting max. You ca t give max to a secondary scoring threat. He will get paid, but max money to rondo is franchise suicide. We wouldn't be able to acquire the primary big time scorer under the cap.

Rondo 45% FG, 10.6 ppg, 11.8 assists, 8.4 rebs(ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!!!!!), 1.8 steals.

Yes, he is certainly our problem and we will be better if we trade him.

Some of you are borderline INSANE. The kid is a STUD and we need to find another STUD or two to surround him with. How the hell do you expect this guy to win when he has Kelly Olynick as a strting center, Jared Sullinger as a starting PF, Jeff Green as a starting SF and Avery Bradley as a starting SG??????? Read that last line again and ask yourself what those 4 players' "worth" is around the league. Please. Ham and Eggers.

Wrong. Letting him walk and using his "max" money on 3 more 8 million dollar a year ham and eggers(Jeff Green/Avery Bradley types) is what's not going to get us anywhere. You pay STUDS and you fill in the 8-12th guys on your roster with vet minimum deals. You don't pay glorified role players who shouldn't be starting on any legit contender(Green and Bradley) 8-9 million a year. That's what our problem is. Pay STUDS what they are worth and stop paying ham and eggers 8-9 million a year.

Why not? It is unlikely the next Franchise scorer is coming via FA. Definitely not coming if a Rondo like talent is not on the team. This next team will be built through the draft and trades, not free agency.

I'm no capologist, but my understanding is that given the cap increase that is being expected, the team could give Rondo the max without really increasing the %-of-cap that his salary takes up.

Why not?

We managed to add KG and Ray to a maxed out Pierce, what would stop us from doing the same with Raj?
