You would think after years of seeing players claim they are fine after this happens and then having to miss 2 weeks because they were stupid enough to put them back in they would learn. This injury always hurts way more the next day unless you very quickly get ice on it and then stay off it for a couple days. Pisses me off!
I'm not an expert in this field. But according to someone on here the other day, this is why:

I don't think this is proven and it's going to be hard to convince me that any severe injury should be ignored and competitive sports should be continued directly after even though you then sit out for weeks after. Plus. if this method is only 2 years old why has it been happening much longer than this?
I really have been watching this type of thing for quite a while now with an open mind and a keen eye and I just don't believe it. I know what happened to me and it seemed like a really perfect example of both results. Too bad this is almost impossible to test scientifically due to it being impossible to quantify the severity.

I don't think that article is saying continue competitive activity. It's just saying move it around along with elevation, which would go against compression and simply elevating (if you're elevating I'm assuming this is contributing to the immobilization of the injury).

I know the article doesn't say that but that is what the trainers are doing.
