I think if Durant qualifies as a big then so does Bird and Bird was more skilled.

Lebron's 6 8. That's a pretty small big man.

That said, Durant's not a "legit 7 footer" either. Anyone you have to use that term for is probably not 7 feet tall.

When did Durant grow 2 inches?

Everything about his game screams perimeter player, kind of weird that people think are implying otherwise.

I…I don't even know what to say.

I'm sitting here trying to convince someone that a guy that starts at small forward, has started at small forward for the entirety of his career, handles the ball a decent amount and plays the game on the perimeter primarily is a wing player...I'm the one that should be saying that I don't even know what to say.

He only plays so much small forward because he is so incredibly skilled. Kevin Garnett actually started at small forward the first several years of his career too.

If Durant was even just a little less skilled, his team would've had him gain a ton of weight, crash the boards more, and stop letting him handle the ball.

Everybody kind of has an idea of what size an NBA center should be. Except for weight, Kevin Durant is basically that. He has the height, reach and wingspan of a center. But he's so damn good he's allowed to handle the ball as much as a guard.

But please, tell me more about if your aunt had balls or whatever.

To me, he's not a big man because he doesn't play like a big man.

He plays like a guard, handling the ball and facing the basket and shooting from long range.

When we say "big man" I think we are generally referring to guys who do the majority of their offensive damage in the paint.

E.g. Embid, Cousins, and Davis shoot threes but the staple of their offensive game is in the paint. Shooting threes is just an add-on.

For Durant, shooting threes and the perimeter game is his primary offense. And you won't see him playing effective defense in the paint on a true "big man" because he's too light.

Ben Wallace is too. With that being said no KD is not even close to being the most skilled Big Man. Even if he was considered a Big man he's no where close to as good as Robinson, Shaq, Hakeem, Ewing, Kareem, Wilt or even Anthony Davis now.

Lol, I don't think Durant is a big man, but this is hysterical.

You think guys like Shaq and Robinson are more skilled than Durant?

As far as the Big man game, which this topic happens to be about and all yes they are.

1. Exactly what is the "big man game" and
2. Do Porzingis, Markkanen, and Anderson play it?

Robinson was very fast for a tall athletic too while being great on both ends of the floor. You're welcome.

I'll take the Admiral over K.D any day of the week.

I think you're confusing the two.

There's absolutely zero chance D-Rob and Shaq are more skilled than Durant. Or Curry. Or LeBron. Or Kyrie. Etc.

Isn't he the same size as Larry Bird? There's your answer right there, no.

Sure kd plays the 4 now but the game has laid out perfectly for him with the way it's become so perimeter oriented. Durant has never taken a guy into the post and made a post move going towards the basket. I will give you the most skilled 7 ft player of all time but I'm not calling him a big man at 185 lbs.

185? There is no way he weighs less than 235. Probably closer to 245.

KD is long as ****, and can play center, but he is not 7 feet. I always thought he was close, but this photo pretty clearly shows that Durant is shorter than AD and Aldridge who are in the 6'11, 7'0 feet range. From the looks of it Durant is 6-10... 6-11 absolute max...

Durant is not a bigman, but if you call him that way, then we have arguably the most skilled player in NBA history who is bigger and played bigger than KD and who was clearly more skilled overall. Yes, I'm talking about Larry Legend.

BTW, true bigs like Dirk, McAdoo and Garnett are probably even more skilled than Durant. Depends on how do you view "skills".

Uh huh well again this conversation is about the greatest big man ever so no idea why you're even bringing up point guards. Players are giving positions that come with different roles for the team for a reason and when it comes to the Big I'd rather have the traditional guy like a Robinson or a guy like Anthony Davis who can do that and also play the outside game like modern players do more frequently. Each their own.

Durant's pretty clearly at least two inches taller than James. Can provide photographic evidence. If Durant's truly 6 9, then Lebron's closer to 6 7.

My old man has been watching NBA since before the ABA merger when games were on tape delay in the middle of the night. He texted me during the Finals and told me that KD had surpassed Dirk as the most skilled big man he'd ever seen.

Kevin Durant can't even post up Chris Paul...people here are being very liberal with the term "skill". Perimeter scoring =\ skill.

We're witnessing a player that won't ever be seen again, a 6'11-7 footer that moves like a guard. Dude has no weakness in his game!
