Re: Kobe Bryant Discussion, Part Two
Only been a few hours and still can't believe this is real. Thought Kobe would be around forever to continue to influence the game of basketball. Was really looking forward to his induction into the HOF speech. He would'a thrown out some shots mannn, it would have been epic.
Gone but never EVER forgotten. Rest in peace Mamba, we love you bro.

Honestly shocked and in disbelief. Loss for words, the horror they must of felt brakes my heart.

I haven't posted on RealGM in years because life happens, but after today's news I flashed back to all the time I spent here, all the Lakers Finals game threads and the player comparison debates and player rankings, most of them involving Kobe in some way. It's really hard to imagine he's gone. RIP.

“The other day I saw one of his games. He was running with the ball at a hundred per cent full speed, I don’t know how many touches he took, maybe five or six, but the ball was glued to his foot. It’s practically impossible.”

It was only up until his final year where I truly felt he was happy in life. Obviously I don’t personally know him but that’s the feeling I got, and it’s truly saddening to see him go at such a young age. Kobe could become the CEO of a multi billion dollar company one day and I wouldn’t be surprised, that’s how much respect I have for the guy.
I think Kobe was just very good at compartmentalizing and laser focus. When basketball was done it was done and if he focused his energy on something else he wanted to be the best at it in his next chapter. Some people are just wired an entirely different way and will have succeeded at anything they tried. They enjoy the process and effort it takes.

I haven't been right all day since hearing the news. The world lost a great man today.
RIP Kobe. Thank you.

Yes, he's the kind of guy who would have succeeded at anything. A tragic loss to his family, but the world was robbed of his potential also.

This man valued people's time and truly wante the next batch of stars to succeed him.

So he was the only one mourning?!? But what else you can expect...
Take your pathetic agenda elsewhere.

Re: Kobe Bryant Discussion, Part Two
Trae Young, Booker, and Kemba shot 24 times each
Trae and Booker combined for 81 points
Trae shot 81 percent from the free throw line
Jokic ended up with 24 points.
Plus countless players who ended up with either 8 points, or 8 shot attempts. I’m sure some of these are pure coincidences, but it’s heart warming to think some of these guys where actually going out there for Kobe and playing the game he loved so dearly.

If it is any consolation, from the reports I’ve heard they probably couldn’t see through the fog and slammed right into the hill, so it would’ve been over instantly. Very similar to the crash that killed guitarist Stevie Ray Vaughan in 1990.

yup, when I found he passed I thought a lot about this place. The many people I argued with whose real name I never knew. Many of those arguments involved Kobe. Like most people, entered thirties and time for internet forums plummeted.
I've been cognizant, and sad, over the last year or two that I'm solidly middle aged by all metrics. Not so sad anymore because life is short and you have to enjoy the time you have.
I feel awful for Vanessa, Jellybean and all the others who really knew Kobe. Rest in peace.

She probably doesn’t know anything about sports and was gonna say “Knick’s” and “Lakers”

It appears this second thread is causing RealGM to have some errors.
We'll leave it at 81 if you want it that way, Kobe.

Have the Lakers even released a statement? I don't see anything on their Twitter
I can't even imagine the grief in their building right now
