I don't know why there is the expectation that whatever 6'8 guy we sign is automatically going to take Mike Scott's minutes. The Anthony Tolliver's, Mike Muscala's and Gary Clark's of the world are the same as Mike Scott. This is a depth signing, in case a PF gets hurt, they're not sitting there with only 1 backup Center and zero backup PFs.
I don't disagree, but I just thought you may want to give the guy some minutes before the playoffs to see what he has left beforehand at least. And not sure who's expense that would be at besides Scott.

I guess you're thinking he is just there literally to put a body in if Harris and Scott get hurt or garbage time?

I think he's there for injuries and if all goes right, to give Doc another option to play in lineups with Ben Simmons, since it's become clear that Ben and Dwight can't play together.

I think it's presumptuous to think guys like Tolliver or Gary Clark, can just walk on to the team, and beat Mike Scott out for minutes when they've essentially been the same level player as Scott their whole careers. Scott's the same level player and has had the advantage of practicing with the team all year and they have not. It's possible Tolliver could beat him out, but I'm saying that isn't a logical expectation.

Actually if you ask me which Center I want for my perfect championship caliber team, I will chose Asik hands down

Yeah, that’s a good question. Brett said they were taking him in the bubble last year, but he couldn’t play because of the bone bruise he got weeks? months? prior. As far as I know, he hasn’t played a second in any NBA/G game since. Dang, I ain’t saying he dominated after college, but I thought he looked promising in SL, and even Jimmy said he looked good in practice. If he ain’t long term hurt, maybe see him in somebody’s SL this year. But, yeah, a serious miss!

Assuming that we sign Tolliver for the remainder of the season, would he be eligible for the playoffs?

Yes. Anyone signed, who was a free agent or waived by last Friday, is eligible for the playoffs.

Has to be more to it

If he wanted to/is capable of playing then you’d think that he would be playing somewhere

The NBL season is currently on here for example

Return to Philadelphia 76ers
