He really does live in 76ers fans' heads rent-free. I did not know it was this bad.

Should I have quoted the different posters bringing up Embiid over the first couple of pages before I posted? Nah. You're right he lives rent free. Every time Embiid scored tonight I mentally tallied him against Jokic.

When they are free agents in 2023, Jokic and Embiid should just team up and play together so we don’t have to hear this nonsense again and just enjoy watching them

it seems that with Embiid is always about "what if" and not "what he did" according to his fans. If he played 80 games he would have won MVP, if he had played 40 minutes he would have scored 467 points.

There are arguments for more accomplished play-off performers like Giannis, LeBron, KD and Curry but just looking at current performance then yes Jokic is currently the best player in the league by just about any measure.

I know PER it's almost useless nowadays but Jokic has been so unreal lately that it's always impressive when PER actually grows (approaching 33),past the season midpoint.

He traveled on that play- moved his pivot foot.

He also shot more free throws than the entire Clippers team. You'd think that the refs would show some sympathy with basically the entire Clippers roster out- but oh well. I can see why Lue could hardly speak after the game.

Zubac was literally pushing Jokic on the stomach on that play, he had his hand on it whole time, the other defender touched him too if we are going into small details, that pass was great, travel or not.

If Jokic isn’t the best....

Naw f that prime Jokic is the absolute best.

It’s Jokic then Giannis then KD then Embiid and then Curry right now...

The only way Giannis can catch Jokic is if voters say Giannis Defense is so much better than Jokics significant offensive skills advantage over Giannis that they vote for Giannis. It’s great because Giannis and Jokic both on organic ordinary teams vs super teams.

Well there is this 1 guy who has a whole bunch of them , probably a few 50 point Quadruple doubles if they counted blocks back in the day.
But he played in the 60s , and as I have been told here many times it was always against chain smoking plumbers and part time brick layers. :D

Jokics the new triple double Westbrook but with PER and other stats still derived from boxscore. Top 5 player tho and better than Westbrook was.

Eh.
It's the NBA man, you have to tick off a long checklist before you can call a travel:
A) it has to be a travel, B) it can't be on the winning play, C) it can't be in a crucial game in the play offs, D) it can't be on the MVP, E) you have to let it go a couple of times first before you call it, etc etc

I have to say, I admire those NBA refs. They have some long checklists to work with.

You guys are hilarious. Embiid did this in 27 minutes. The fastest 50 points of all time. Jokic was spectacular but he needed overtime to do it.

And you're not calling it in front of the NBA crowds instead of us lunatics in Greece and Serbia.

Imagine making a huge mistake this late in the game in OAKA, SEF or Pionir

It doesn't matter , it was the great night for Jokic and he was clutch too , Embiid did it against the team who is tanking hard right now, it was the great performance but against the team who is in the full tanking mode.

Since the beginning of last season (Jokic 2.0) he has proven more skilled and more valuable than Shaq ever was. Shaq couldn't shoot anything like this or pass anything like this.

And, this season is no fluke. His last 120 games, since the beginning of last season, including the 2021 playoffs, Jokic is averaging 27.4/12.1/6.9/1.1 on .831 FT%, .377 3P% on +7.5 rTS% (.641 TS%).

Consider: The only player in NBA history the only player to average 27/12/7 for any single season was Oscar Robertson in 1961-1962, when there were (an all time record) 128 possessions per game. The last two years the NBA has averaged only 102 possessions per game. Jokic has kept up this ridiculous pace and efficiency for a season and a half!!

He also has the highest PER in NBA history this season.

Jokic is the best center since Kareem Abdul Jabaar.

By far. It's not even remotely close, and I've been following the NBA closely since 1986.

I think the "Jokic is a liability on defence" narrative is overblown. He's not the best shot blocker, but he does a great job at using his body to alter shots and he's great at timing his interceptions, he leads the league in steals per game for big men.

When you look at his stats, he's 2nd in the league in DBPM, 6th in DWS, and 20th in Defensive Rating for players that have played at least 20 games. People have to stop talking about him as if he's a bad defender. He's not elite by any stretch, but he's a pretty good defender.
