Wade has one season of almost as many dunks as morant has in his entire career playing at a lower pace with less spacing.

Ja is probably up there as one of the best dunking small men but he's not the 2nd best in game dunker.

He really only has one dunk and that's getting max elevation and then cocking it back and trying to dunk on someone.

Vince and Nique either had more power or more variety to their dunks plus the frequency of their dunks was a lot more being a lot taller than Ja.

I can’t say Ja is the best dunker ever because he hasn’t done a variety of Dunks yet. But I will say if he keep this up, he might have the most posters ever. He’s definitely got rockets in his calves. His hand was at the top of the square on that shot he blocked yesterday

Vince Carter BTW has some of the most beautiful dunks ever. His windmills happen to be extremely aesthetically pleasing. His dunks just look perfect.

Jordan - most athletic dunker.

Kemp and Dominique - best power dunkers

Carter - best mix of athletic/power dunking styles

Dr. J - most graceful dunker

Ja - best small man dunker

Spud Webb - best extremely small man dunker

I haven't compiled a list but if I did, he'd probably be an honorable mention or just inside my top 10.

Best dunker ever though? Nah. Not even close.

Amare was king of the straight up posters to me. He’d dunk through you. Not throw it it, not slightly avoid body contact and dunk it in. He’d go straight through ya chest and dunk that bih lol

The short answer is no. If you're talking about in-game dunks, there are a number of players I'd take over Ja.

What an awful take lmao. Rose has 106 dunks in his entire damn career. Carter's top 100 dunk highlight reel is goatworthy. Carter dunked more in 1999-00 than Rose has in his entire 698 game NBA career.

Rose might have a handful of dunks that land in Vince's top 100. Maybe. These kids, I tell ya.

The way people remember Rose is proof that people really only watch Sportscenter and highlight reels to consume basketball.

It was really great but, no. I don't even think he is the best point guard dunker of all time, Baron Davis has plenty of dunks more impressive and violent than this.

I've still never seen any dunkers better than Jordan or Wilkins. In game, contests, whatever.

I also thought about Baron but then I had another look at the footage and in terms of height Davis is really nowhere near Morant's level, although he was dunking on guys like prime KG. It seems as though he was just so powerful and his timing and body control were impeccable and that's why he got himself a nice amount of awesome facials. But vertical wise he honestly looks like an aging Morant.

Ranking them all time I think I'd put Morant somewhere around peak athletic LBJ in terms of dunks.
Some of my favs are

I love the power on this one where the ball just flies away.

Anyway, I still think that when evaluating dunkers all time people will have different criteria which can include anything from vertical jump, shot blocking ability of the defender, height, power, quantity, variety, even finesse (like those kobe baseline reverse reverse windmill dunks in traffic that no one else would even attempt)

He never competed in the dunk contest, but he's one of the best dunkers ever by default too.

Jordan, Vince, Griffin, LeBron, Nique, etc are all better than Ja.

That's because 95% of Lebron is the same boring tomahawk.

He isn't even the best PG dunker. Westbrook is still miles ahead.

He is very good, but for me he is nowhere near Shawn Kemp or Dominique Wilkins.

Vince Carter's UNC dunks alone is probably enough to put him near the top.

Add the NBA dunks, dunk contest, his Olympic dunk aka the greatest dunk of all-time...

I'll continue to vouch for Ja here. These are nice, they don't compare to the best of Ja though and he's just getting started. Massive posters, dunks with the left hand, switching hands mid air!, windmills with head at the rim, off the backboard to himself, and we got people here saying Baron Davis was better? Nostalgia aside, Ja is there with any of the guys listed or videos posted. Again, big Westbrook fan from his prime but did he do this? Check it out.

Heej wrote:It doesn't matter how high you jump. If you don't have the hands to effortlessly palm the ball you'll never be in the greatest dunker conversation. Too much of a handicap when you have guys like Doc, MJ, and Vince that can jump as high as anyone with elite body control and always had maximum extension due to their hands. Ja might be 2nd the best under 6'5 after Wade tho. But people forgot how nasty Wade was. He was straight up bodying PFs and Cs lol. Unreal power for a guard. One of the strongest to ever do it at his position

Prime Wade is underappreciated tbh. He had the exact same amount of dunks as Lebron in 09 and 10 as a guard. Wade in 06 had as many dunks as Mitchell has had his entire career. He would legit average like 35+ a game in todays NBA. There would be just no rim protection to stop him. Both those seasons were MVP caliber and just happened to happen at the same time as the GOAT was having MVP caliber seasons.
