If you take the time to listen it's very clear she meant seeing him in person was a revelation, not that she wasn't aware of how good he is. Saying "sleeping on him" is a poor choice of words and the tweeter made a point of just using that.

You can't reasonably believe anyone employed in her capacity doesn't realize he's a top player. She was a player and understands the game. But the chance to be outraged by a female reporter was too much to resist, I guess.

Did you actually listen to the audio?

Yup... found the douche who automatically went to the sexist approach without even listening to the audio properly loll.

Hopefully she didn't have an MVP vote.

It's kind of wild that she hasn't seen the best player in the NBA ever play lol. It's kind of her job to be watching him.

But she is also surprised by how good he is, which you don’t need to be in person to know. It does sound like she has never been assigned to cover him, but how do you have that job and never be curious to tune in on your own at some point? I really hope she didn’t have an MVP vote without watching him all these years.

This is a great point. This goes for everyone reporting on the NBA. You should want to watch ball. Now I know it's not an easy job with a lot of time committed, but come on. That's crazy. It seems as if every sport in the world the reporters know all the players etc. Not saying they're all great at it, but they at least know, you know, the best player in the game.

Her job is to communicate basketball, right? She basically said she doesn't know the sport or you're saying she can't communicate. Either way it's just a sign ESPN hires the worst of the worst. I mean it's no worse than the Screaming A idiots who don't watch the sport either.

Also why I love Doris Burke so much. Love or hate her, that woman bleeds basketball and has forgotten more about it than any of us know.

Cassidy Hubbard is the best sideline reporter, she actually knows her stuff, for some reason ESPN doesn't utilize her as much as the others dunno why, or maybe I just haven't seen it

We knew he was a great regular season player, but it didn't translate to the playoffs until now. Jokic is showing that he's worked on his game, and got a lot better compared to a season or two ago. But we cant blame people for not seeing what wasn't there before. He's surprising a lot of people now.

Jokic's playoff stats prior to this season:

26.4ppg , 11.5 rpg, 56.7% efg, 60.7%TS..including a trip to the WCF during that time. I don't know what led to your conclusion, but you are talking out of your behind like a casual would...do better

You're arguing with a guy who watched a highlight tape of guards scoring and ignored everything else...in other words an ESPN level view.

It honestly sounds like she really hasnt watched that many games of his ever. Not just in person but in general.

Why would she, he's a dude picked last in All Star game that barely anyone noticed he played in.

Who watches the All-Star game to gauge how good players really are? Not even casuals do that unless they are super casuals.

Do people over 18 watch the allstar game?

Either you think she can't speak english or she could not have been more clearly that she knew his stats and had not ever payed any attention to him or watched him.

She doesn't watch the nba outside of being at live games. She needs to be fired.

No, not really. Or is it, ESPN hot takers dont get to vote, please tell me I am right?

Stephen A

JJ
Wilbon
Rose

Are a few of the ESPN names I know voted for MVP this year.

Not on ESPN, but just wait until Nick Wright gets an MVP vote. He has been whining about it for years.

That's the thing with the sports media. They only talk about a few teams and know next to nothing about the rest. And they definitely vote based on narrative (that they created). It's how Ja ended up winning most improved despite already being a star. And how Embiid won this years MVP.

IMHO, only coaches should vote to determine winner for all awards.

You know he was initially selected to be Indiana Jones but refused because he had to shoot some episodes of Magnum PI?

I thought it was because they told him he had to trim his stache. No one messes with his stache

coaches are watching way less games than the media, and would take this even less seriously.
it's just a matter of being more selective on what media members should be allowed to vote.
there are guys who are there just to create controversies, Perkins or SAS for instance should not vote.

It’s not women’s basketball or softball. Espn doesn’t care.
