Sabonis was the fulcrum of the #1 ranked offense. He's clearly a very talented offensive player and a great rebounder. He would be a great piece to have and would make it so much easier for Tatum on offense, but the Kings are not trading him so no point in speculating trading Jaylen Brown for him.

They probably won't, but if I'm Stevens I'm making the call.

Sabonis is definitely a good player but he's the type that gets played off the court in the playoffs because of his defensive and shooting weaknesses. As good as he is and how he can fill up the stat sheet, SAC had to sit him at times.

Great offensive engine but just not a fan of his game for a team with deep playoff run aspirations. I think he's the guy who gets you to the playoffs but puts a ceiling on you once you get there if he's your 1A or 1B.

I think so too. The Raptors can part with Siakam and play Anunoby and Barnes as their two forwards with Poeltl as a true center.

It's hard for the Celtics to make a deal just with the Trailblazers, because either Simons or Nurkic needs to go out as "salary filler" and neither looks to be a good fit for the Celtics. Thus we'd need a third party.

Certainly Simmons would be more attractive to Toronto than he would be to Boston. Jerami Grant might work for the Celtics if resigned to a reasonable deal, but I don't see any huge value at #3. Maybe Cam Whitmore, but he strikes me as a younger version of Jaylen Brown with the same strengths and weaknesses.

But why would Boston do that?

Get three young athletic players for the price of one.

Jaylen Brown and Pritchard to Portland. Jaylen goes to the Epicenter of the Woke Movement, Pritchard returns to Oregon to become the star he was destined to be.

#3, Simons and filler to Toroto. They start their retooling around Barnes. Simons gives them a guy who can create off the bounce. They don't mind drafting Miller since maybe being outside the country will help him beat the murder rap.

Siakam to Boston. Maybe add a pick or something. Add length and defense to the front court. Longterm Horford replacement as a good defending, good passing, decent scoring forward who can fill in at Center. Career .774 free throw % suggests he can be Horford/Brook Lopez level as a three point shooting big.

I'd rather have Anunoby and Boucher than Siakam.

Siakam is a couple tiers above OG as an offensive player plus OG is too frail and plays SF which forces Tatum to stay at PF.

But Boucher is 6-9 and can play PF or C.

I like Siakam. Decent passer, good shooter but just a fair rebounder. And he's 30 years old. I think the Celtics need another competent big and I don't view Siakam as a big, just as I don't view Tatum as one. Horford won't play forever and Timelord will never be a 35 mpg player.

Boucher is also #8 or 9 type at best.
Siakam just turned 29. Basketball players of his calibre don't fall off a cliff until 34-35 or so, which is incidentally when Horford started his descent into roleplayerdom. Siakam will be good for his next contract and then ready to sign roleplayer deals.

Yes, and Boucher is also 30. I didn't realize that. So I'll take Siakam if I can't get Sabonis.

Jaylen Brown trade ideas

Post#99 » by bigboi » Tue May 30, 2023 2:23 am

I need this dude off the team. He isn’t a max player nor the player that he thinks he is. Even a Siakim wouldn’t have sold like this. All Jaylen needed to do was play decently

Bird would have won 4 rings with that team, in this weak ass era of basketball.

The team had millions of chances to trade him for stars back in the day. Why didn't they do it? Kawhi, AD, Jimmy, KD but they got greedy.
