Hakeem and Ewing played for team USA so it makes sense for Embiid to do so.

He pointed out that Cameroon is former France colony that speaks french, his family is in France etc. He just pointed out why of all nations he picked France passport. ANd yes, if not for representing team USA this passed month, Austin Reaves COULD represent any country in the world if he got the passport as a NATURALIZED player, so what, so will Embiid. He didnt even make the point that Embiid wouldn't even be clear as day NATURALIZED player as he would be. He will simply be a naturalized FIBA player, and Miro only pointed out why he pursued France Passport, not other passport. He didnt get the passport to play for national team, but now he is citizen and TECHNICALLY can play for France, so France basketball federation is just licking their chops and recruiting him, same that USA federation is doing. THere is no more story to this.

Embiid confirms he’ll make a decision in the next few days and is considering the three options. Interesting he stresses his main goal is to play in the 2024 Olympics, something that isn’t yet assured for Cameroon.

My initial guess is that he would play for USA but Embiid has a shoe deal with under armour.

Team USA is essentially owned by Nike.

Embiid is probably a big enough star that he could still get on the USA team even though he’s not a Nike guy, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he goes elsewhere because of shoe deal politics either

Cameroon might not have a ton of talent, but with Siakam / Embiid / Koloko / Mbah a Moute they have 4 quality guys right there.

Not a super huge fan of naturalizations but Embiid has spent half his life in the US, including almost his entire basketball career and became a citizen last year. I'll take it.
