It was just very sloppy and I think the author was glad to have been done with it.

I think that's just kind of the problem with weekly manga, guys get burnt out by the end and just want to wrap things up which leads to sloppy endings and rushed conclusions, even if it makes sense that's where the story was going anyways. Very Game of Thrones in a way (the show not the books)

But the core issue there is like with all things capitalism, so long as it's profitable for the corporations to squeeze authors for all they're worth rather than do what is best for the art itself, they will do so

Exceptions exist like Oda of course, but even he's basically a bi-weekly author at this point, he hasn't drawn more than 40 chapters in a year since 2012, and the quality of One Piece is really improved by him being able to take breaks to rest and I assume to plot out the story to make sure things work which is why he gets so much praise for foreshadowing

I haven't kept up with Sakamoto Days in a couple months, but I felt like it was heading down that same path of rushing towards an unsatisfying ending too. I think more manga need to take a page from Demon Slayer's book and just set out to write a decently long story but one that gets to the point so you don't get burnt out by the end. It's definitely not the best manga, but I think it'll hold up over time because the story is consistent and feels like it was plotted out from the beginning instead of trying to find reasons to justify itself continuing until the author grows tired of it

Bleach is probably the worst example of that though, and I really like Bleach.

This is gonna be more niche, but I can't wait for EU5 to release

It looks so good, like it takes all the best aspects of previous Paradox games and combines them together. I'm hoping for a 2025 release, but I'd prefer they keep working on it and don't release too soon like they did with Imperator, cause that game just took way too long to be good

Really I just hope they have non-European nations have as much flavor from the start as EU4 does now. I know the game is meant to be Euro-centric, but it's always fun to play new places, like I would say outside of Byzantium in EU4, Persia is my favorite nation/region to play in.

JJK's author had a lot of ambition but once his health started to downturn mid way thru the Culling Games Arc, I think he just decided to table everything and rush to the final battle. The same thing happened to Tokyo Ghoul: re.

I hope the anime can at least clean up how jarring the transition from The Culling Games to The Shinjinku Showdown was in the manga.

Demon Slayer's author had the right idea, agreed 100%. Tell a simple story, completely thought out and resolve everything in a nice clean ending. Sometimes reinventing the wheel isn't necessary.

Bleach is at least getting it's proper ending in the anime.

Yeah, that was some Fire Punch sh*t

2nd straight week I've finished a chapter going "God damn it, Denji", cause it's totally in character, and even he realizes he's being manipulated at this point, but he is who he is

I don't know if anyone here has listened to the Magnus Archives, but I can't help but think of some similarities to how this is playing out with how the final season goes. It's a really good series and it would take too long and spoil too much to give the background on what I find similar, but I highly recommend it.

I don't know anything about the Mortal Instruments, so I'll say no cause I'm pretty sure TMA is its own thing

It's urban horror, essentially (at least at the start) it's about a guy in London reading transcripts of interviews where regular people have come into contact with seemingly supernatural events in order to digitize their archive. It of course spirals out from there

I tell people, just listen to the 1st episode. It's very good, not too long (all the episodes are less than 30 minutes), and if you like it, you'll like the series, if you're intrigued you can keep listening, and if you don't like it, it's not that much time to waste getting into it

I'm not gonna call it a power system because that implies fights which TMA doesn't really do, but its supernatural elements are fairly similar to how Devils work in CSM.

I'm seeing a lot of people on Reddit and TikTok trying to claim Rocks is a good guy and then going even further to say Roger must be a villain in the God Valley incident, but I feel like it's not that simple

Like, Rocks has very quickly become one of my favorite characters, and I get why people want to make him a good guy, cause he's super charismatically written, but that's kind of the point. His crew is full of strong players, most of whom are future antagonists to Luffy, so he has to be not only strong but super charismatic in order to keep them in line

And yeah, he opposes the WG, but we haven't seen what exactly is gonna go down at God Valley. I think it's clear that the version of events Sengoku told the marines isn't entirely accurate because obviously it isn't, but that doesn't make it black and white. I think it's obvious that Rayleigh is gonna rescue Shakky, meaning Roger's crew is clearly in conflict with the WG as well, like that's clearly their main goal, Roger just blames Rocks for not keeping her safe

Also, let's not forget, the very first thing we see Rocks do is attack Loki, an actual child, and then laugh about how it'll force Harald to come back. And we know that he later brutally beat Loki to the point Whitebeard chastised him over it. Dude is not a good guy, that part is all canon, not marine propaganda

There's a reason why Dragon is on God Valley as well, as I expected. It's likely thematically to contrast him to Rocks, both want to overthrow the WG, but I think it's clear that Rocks (and probably by extension Teech) want to keep the current power system in place and just put themselves in charge, where Dragon wants to overthrow the WG and replace the entire system with something better

Anyways, All Marines Are Bastards.

This one is also there. I loved the first remake. Thought it was really well-done and a fun experience. I actually went back and played Crisis Core a year ago...didn't expect it to be so emotional for me.

My kid won't let me use his damn ps5 to play expedition 33 so im honestly thinking of getting one to play it this winter. Its been highly recommended to me by a few people.

I usually just game on switch. Waiting for a min before I grab the switch 2. Don't feel the need to cop it yet.

As for film/TV I haven't watched anything compelling in awhile. I dont know why but the older I get the harder I find it to lock in the screen.

I prefer to read. am about halfway through book 5 of the storm light achive. Love Sanderson world building, pace, characters, everything really, excpet one big thing. the whole time im reading it I cant help but wish he had a touch of Joe Abercrombie's darkness. It just feels too close to young adult fiction. Makes it hard to immerse into the story.

I’m glad your kid is giving you a hard time :D

Snyder die hards are so insufferable. IDGAF if you're a fan of his movies. You don't need to tear others down to lift up your faves. Man of Steel got over a $100 million more in international sales than Gunn Superman and yet Gunn Superman is only $60 mil behind in total sales. If they didn't have a crazy July slate of movies that everybody was going to watch, it would have crossed a billion
