No, he's got range on his shot. Petrie wouln't have drafted him if he didn't. hehe.

I seem to remember reading that he's got that range.
This space needs to be filled with a new sig...but I'm too lazy to make one.

Well, he had range up to the NBA 3 line.

I really would like to see Spencer and Jason out there more together. Shelden looks good though.
It was kinda interesting late in the 2nd when we had Jason, Spencer and Shelden all on the floor at the same time.
Yeah he's gaured the SF position very well too. He's having a rough day but it's starting to look up right now. Getting into the flow.

IIRC you can't foul out. Regardless, of fouls.
Isn't it 10 and you foul out?

I think he averaged 1 3-point attempt per game last year, but he definitely looks like he has the range. And I think I read that he played as a guard before hitting his growth spurt, so that may positively influence his shooting and handles too.

I don't know. But that rule seems familiar though.

Re: Kings Summer League
Thompson looks solid, could be a David West type guy - couple of years to develop but he'll get there. Good luck with him/Hawes etc

Re: Kings Summer League
Well, solid overall, they got better as the game went on.
Jason looked a little lost at times but you can certainly see the talent and athletic skill he possesses. Did a fine job at the SF spot which may or may not be a shocker. Rarely do you see a 6'10" guy be able to drive to the hoop like that. Didn't end up too successful most of the time but there is something there.
Douby looked so much better coming off screens than going one on one. If motion becomes his game he without a doubt has a spot on our team IMO.
Singletary looked really solid, nothing spectacular but could stick around.
Ewing Jr. didn't do much on D, and since he is one of the more unproductive players you'll find in basketball, that isn't a good thing.
Shelden looked good. His post game is straight up ugly though! Somehow gets it done though. Good job on the boards and banging people around as usual.
Now for Spencer. Wow, just a great showing. What can't this guy do on offense??? I can't think of one thing. He looks to be in great shape, skinnier than last year, but I think that is where he needs to stay. I think his body is much more suited to be at around 240 or whereever he is at now, than 260+.
Overall our frontline looked better than the one we started last years regular season out with. The can actually REBOUND THE BALL! And shoot. And post up.

Re: Kings Summer League
Spencer just murdered out there. Too many threes for my liking though.
Singletary has a place in the NBA. Very refreshing to see him play, especially after the Douby chuckfest. Speaking of which, Douby is not a point guard. He needs to come off screens and be a scorer.
Shelden put up numbers, but was pretty crappy overall. Watching him and JT run is like night and day. JT didn't finish well, but did show his talent, and shut down Joey Graham in crunch time.

Re: Kings Summer League
Nice to start the 08/09 season with a win!
Guys who impressed today:
Spencer...very nice and looks like he's going to continue to turn heads. I am tempted to drive over to his parent's place right now an give them a kiss on their foreheads!
Singletary...definite keeper. I like his energy, his speed, his control and his vision. I am really looking forward to seeing him give Beno some competition for minutes.
Williams...looks like he's taking this summer seriously and wants to compete for a job in the fall. I saw a lot from him today to encourage me.
Guys I'm neutral on:
Thompson...showed me the energy I want to see, but not the skill I was hoping for right off the bat. He looks like he's going to be a bit of a project, but there is something there to be encouraged about.
Hawkins...he's not a guy who's going to get a slot on the roster, but he played like that didn't matter. He had a decent game and showed that he might at least deserve an invite to somebody's camp.
Walsh...wasn't expecting much from him and he didn't disappoint. Played his role as a wing-man who needs to be ready for an opportunity 3 pretty well.
Guys that didn't impress:
Douby...yeah, he scored 20 points. But we know he can shoot already. What I wanted to see is for him to act like a combo-guard who can be given time at the point. He did not show me that there is any hope for that. He's still careless with the ball, still looks for his own shot too much and does not create well for others. He needs to be trade filler this summer.
Ewing...he just flat out didn't show me anything worth talking about. I know he's not his dad, but he was at least touted as having something to offer. He didn't show it today.
As for the rest of the roster, nothing really there to talk about since they didn't hit the floor (or only had a few minutes for Felix).

Sounds like pretty good stuff.... I need to see the game, will before the next one
I'm not going to get down on Ewing Jr. yet after one game, because there should be multiple oppurtunities.

Interesting article here. May explain the athletic difference between last year and now...

"But as Hawes finally approached, he grabbed the ball and leapt for a mini-windmill dunk that most wouldn't imagine in his repertoire. Let the second impressions begin."
