They're obviously competing for a low playoff spot so I don't see why they would trade him this season. But by delaying they reduce his trade value with each passing day because he's an unrestricted FA in 2018. I think the days of Boston giving up their bevy of picks plus young guys for him have already past but with a season and two thirds left, he would still bring back a good return.
If I was them I'd ride it out with Cousins - they've gone this far and if he walks in 2018 then you can rebuild anyway.
Not only does the continuing contract situation lower his value - reminder of the D12 situation - the simple fact that he is always at risk of
imploding in some way also puts them at risk. The real question for other teams is not would you want his talent - obviously just about
everyone would - it's can he clean up his act, or is he one personal explosion away from becoming a real problem?
