Butler doesn't make sense. The Lakers would have 3 starters who aren't good point shooters

If he coulda been worked into it, I think Lakers missed a golden opportunity to get Holiday too. He’d be one of the best possible third wheels to those two. Can play either guard, run the offense to give Bron a break and elite defender. Way better than paying one of the FAs and would had some more cap flexibility

Finals bound with a 35 year old Lebron and a made of glass, injury prone AD and ZERO depth lmao. I remember when people said that Boogie and AD are finals bound when that trade happened. How'd that work out?

Unless the Lakers make additional moves for an actual PG and add major depth they wont finish higher than 3rd or 4th seed in the West. Their ceiling would be a 2nd round exit or WCF exit.

They have 32 millions in cap and Warriors and Houston are done... Theyre by far the favourites to win the West.

Houston... all they need are some minor tweaks

Now that I see all the picks involved I think the Pelicans made out really well. I'm still not that high on the Lakers young guys but that's a crap load of draft picks. I mean you couldn't ask for a better setup to build a team

Although I hate it for the league, that's exactly who I would focus on if I was the Lakers.

They would be like PHI on roids and would win no less than 2 'ships imo assuming Bron remains healthy.

Ay, we got a lot of guff from fans of every conceivable stripe regarding LA's ability to get this deal done. I was told your offer is trash more than once and I've barely dabbled in this topic for the last few weeks. Now I see the poll at about 100-130 on who won the trade. Now 100 people think NO won it, lol. Ahh, RealGM...

Time will tell. Lakers won for now (assuming AD signs). The team who gets the best player usually wins. It comes down to this 4 pick, and there's no clear potential stars at 4 IMO

Lakers traded a young supporting cast for a player they could have got as a free agent. There is absolutely no way this is anything other than an l for la.

Pelicans just became contenders. Lakers just became overrated

Disagree, this a W for the Lakers.

By trading for AD now:

-they maintain almost enough cap space to sign an all-star FA this off-season (and have a big 3).

-they achieve one more year of what is left of LeBron's prime for him to play with AD.

IMO, this could not have played out any better for the Lakers.

Yeah but there wasn't THIS many picks included in the original deal. And lets be honest, Zubac is a back up big and Kuzma and Zion isn't a good fit.

sure it could have... they could have given up far fewer draft picks. In the end they either win next year or this might fail.. but they had to make the move

The Pelicans made out like bandits, LeBron will be 41 by the time those picks stop conveying.

Twist: Pelicans will select Lebron James' son Bronny

That would be great

The key will be who the Lakers can get in FA. If they can get another star then the picks and swaps don’t have as much upside. Griffin made a big blunder by not including Solomon Hills contract as this would have taken them out of the race for another star.

Damn, bro, I'm surprised you didn't say that Griffin should've been given one night with Pelinka's wife, too.

Well I will say I was with you when people kept saying stupid ish like "Lakers' poo poo platter"...

That was straight bs, it was comparible to any other package floated out there...but to be fair even to the haters, no one knew that the Lakers would add several future picks as far out as they are -- they COULD (keyword) be great, depends who else is brought in during that time.

If the Lakers (as they likely will) get another star now (ie/ Butler, Kemba) then there's no way you can say bringing in a player that basically caused what I believe will be the catalyst for a potential multiple time championship (my guess is 2x) core than it's a ridiculous take to think that team "lost" and it will be evident when people cry when LAL starts winning again.

Yep... He is done tbh. Capelas contract is also bad and Tucker, their glue guy is turning 35 this year.

Although LeBron is also getting old, so you can say the same about the Lakers.
