Re: 2020-2021 College Basketball / NBA Draft
Tre Mann is our guy we need shot creation/perimeter play here. Can’t bring our guard rotation like the one we had into the playoffs. I mean Seth was really our only threat from there (Great great shooter was worried about him turns out he’s better then Redick because he can handle the rock and create all be it small time).
CJ would be an upgrade (Not as great of a shooter but more volume and handle and creating).
That’s all you need nowadays. There is illegal screens galore. Also carrying galore. And acres of space
Those are the three for me that hyper catalizes guard centric offense.
MJ/Kobe would annihilate this league. Most 90’s, 00 teams would get played off the floor once a modern team is hot.
The square volume to guard full half court is mathematically magnitudes bigger then interior centric offense.
GSW used to set mad illegal screens back in the day. From Livingston, Iggy, Green to Bogut to Zaza all of them could set very very iffy screens lol.
Right leg , Left leg another step towards the defender, hip checks, shuffling feet, jockey elbows the whole works (nice tactic if you can get away with because guess what every team gets away with it). Saw at least five illegal ones on Ben.
Rules are just there you can push and break until it’s no longer a rule because of the officiating not the player. Seen it in a whole bunch of sports.
Anything to get a huge edge players will try to exploit and even break it and will keep doing it because the officiating doesn’t stamp it out.
Not the rules it’s the officiating.
Jordan, Magic both carried the thing (Jordan’s fav move was a travel every time with the shift lift off of his pivot foot so essentially both feet was live at all times) Iverson carry, carry.
Guess what happens next generation? Lol 00’s Mj style. Heck Bulls was a dogged defensive team with the greatest scorer ever.
Curry greatest shooter... Boom even bigs nowadays are slanging close or plus 40%. Have a look at the style of play today.
EMULATION
It’s Mann guys you can fault some of his weaknesses but his offensive capability should be an auto buy.
Look Wagner is solid and Grimes is alright but I pay no mind not for this team.

His rapid improvement each year suggests that he has incredible work ethic. The shot form is near perfect, still has minor tweaks but nice rise on the jumper and clean release. Between all of that and his incredible advanced stats (also just turned 21), I'm guessing he'll go top 20.
ESPN has us taking him in their latest mock actually
Interesting, I assume that's due to his impressive showing in Combine games. I'm a little on the fence with him since he's not great at putting the ball on the court, but he did lead Houston to an impressive season with excellent stats and has shown an propensity to improve. He wouldn't be my first option at our pick, but I wouldn't be pissed about it either.
I'm not a fan. Caught a couple Houston games on tv this year since they were so surprisingly awesome. My takeaway was that Grimes and Sasser did little else than just bomb away from three. I actually thought the engine for Houston that made everything go was Dejon Jarreau. Negro, you would like this dude. Very similar to Florida State's Trent Forrest, who I know you were high on last year. Check him out when you get some time.

Now that everyone seems onboard with Mann, I need to get ya'll on the David Johnson train.

I was intrigued with him his freshman year and wanted him to take off, but he never really did it statwise.

I like Duane Washington a lot. Excellent scorer off the dribble with a very quick trigger from deep. Has excellent strength and wingspan, as well.

Numbers, not good.
Eye test, good shooting form and knows how to read and pass in PnR. But horrible scorer.
Not with our 28th pick. Maybe with our 2nd. Definitely have him for try out.

Re: 2020-2021 College Basketball / NBA Draft
If all our targets are gone and Joe is there take him. I think all of Butler, Mann, Christopher will be gone by 28.
This draft isn’t crash hot and the league is trending this way too.
“Baby Deer leg” bigs even “man child” bigs take longer then smaller guys. Where I come from hugely prodigious bigs take a lot longer and the best ones weren’t drafted 1# overall. They were in there early to mid 20’s before they took control and went bananas not beforehand.

Ef the numbers, look at how many unassisted buckets he scores. Pure shotcreating monster. Also, really strong passer. Was a PG off the bench as a freshman. And he's 6'5" 210 with a 6'10" wingspan and 40 in vertical. Johnson is going to be a wayyyyy better NBA player than he was a college player. He has offensive star upside. Indy version of Malcolm Brogdon upside. Don't sleep on this guy, people will regret it.

Yeah, but why even use a pick on guys that don't project to have any playoff value? Wieskamp barely created more than Luka Garza. He has no ability to put the ball on the floor and he doesn't offer any defensive value. He's even coming off a year shooting sub 70% from the free throw line so even his one standout tool is questionable. Hard pass on him.

Maybe so but law of averages evens out in the end. From the eye his shot passes with flying colours. I mean a Pat Connaughton type from the bench at pick 28 is pretty good value to me. He is athletic, has great size and can shoot the cover off the thing.
He’s been progressing well in the combine.
I mean this draft is deep with “potential” prospects but not high talent for me.
Even at 5# is project territory 6# and 7# picks on mocks are essentially offensive projects too.
I think he’s very very translatable.
The odds of hitting something at pick 28 as opposed to higher picks is obviously a lot lower.
I mean if someone that shouldn’t be there is there at 28 fine pick him. But I can’t see that not for this draft.

I'd rather Morey trade it with either Shake or Matisse and go get a Coby White or something then. I want no parts of shooting specialists that can't ball.

This draft is lacking Paul Reed types. We were real lucky to land a guy like that last year.

I’d go Garland if Cavs don’t want to trade the pick. I reckon he has class written all over him. I wonder what it would take to get.
I don’t bat an eyelid for the Coby/Sexton’s of the world.
Garland though I have a lot of time for.

White is so much bigger and more dynamic a ball handler than Garland. And he presents a more ideal sizing setup as a backcourt mate with Maxey.

No he’s not lol Coby can’t playmake for bananas same with Sexton. 6th man types what can you achieve with Sexton as a starting PG... not much because both isn’t one.
Small undersized 20ppg scorers are a dime dozen. You can legit make Shake that if you really want to.
Garland is a legit trajectory 20/7 true combo guard, not some masquerade undersized scoring guard. He can shoot the rock and has a wicked handle and is a savvy passer and playmaker you watch out
