Carl Landry scored 24 points and Beno Udrih had 20 points and a career-high 17 assists, leading the short-handed Sacramento Kings to a 102-89 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers on Sunday.

Udrih made eight of 17 shots and committed only one turnover. Garcia had 16 points in his second start this season. The four-year veteran from Louisville has played in only 17 games after missing the first 52 because of a broken right forearm.

Point guard Baron Davis, who had 13 points, played 30 minutes and didn't get an assist until early in the third quarter when he set up a short hook shot by Drew Gooden. Gooden had eight points, the fourth time he failed to reach double digits in 15 games since the Clippers obtained him from Washington.

Crawford scored 27 points, including a breakaway dunk with just over two minutes remaining, to help Xavier beat Pittsburgh 71-68 in the second round of the NCAA tournament on Sunday night.

Jason Love had 14 points and a key block down the stretch for the sixth-seeded Musketeers (26-8), who advanced to play second-seeded Kansas State in the West Regional semifinals in Salt Lake City on Thursday.

Ashton Gibbs scored 19 points and Brad Wanamaker had 16 points and 10 rebounds for the third-seeded Panthers (25-9), who nearly rallied with two 3-pointers by Gilbert Brown in the final 28 seconds of the game.

Chris Kramer's drive past one defender and layup over another 6 inches taller than him with 4.2 seconds remaining in overtime sent fourth-seeded Purdue into the regional semifinals of the NCAA tournament with a bruising 63-61 victory over fifth-seeded Texas A&M on Sunday.

Kramer, Purdue's leader with Robbie Hummel out with a knee injury, led the Boilermakers with 17 points and seven rebounds.

Bryan Davis led the Aggies (24-10) with 17 points and 15 rebounds. The 6-foot-9 senior was the man who leaped but could not block Kramer's winning shot.

Exploiting a huge advantage in size and depth in the frontcourt, the top-seeded Blue Devils glided into the round of 16 of the NCAA tournament for the 19th time under coach Mike Krzyzewski with a 68-53 victory over eighth-seeded California on Sunday.

The 7-foot-1, light-scoring Zoubek had 14 points and 13 rebounds while teaming with Lance Thomas and reserves Miles and Mason Plumlee to dominate a suspension-weakened Cal frontline featuring 6-foot-8 Duke transfer Jamal Boykin -- and little else.

Nolan Smith led the Blue Devils (31-5) with 20 points and spearheaded Duke's trademark man-to-man defense that made it difficult for Cal's high-scoring trio of Jerome Randle, Patrick Christopher and Theo Robertson to get open looks.

Pistons' losing streak reaches five games after loss to high-flying Cavaliers
The Cleveland Cavaliers have a reputation for letting inferior teams hang around early and then putting them away late. They did not allow the Detroit Pistons to hang around this time. The Pistons could not slow down the team with the best record in the NBA on Sunday in a 104-79 loss to Cleveland. Detroit has lost five consecutive games and 12 of its past 14. The Pistons sputtered in the second quarter, scoring just five points in the first seven minutes as Cleveland took control. The Cavaliers extended what had been an eight-point lead after one period to 19 with five minutes left in the half.

The Pistons closed to within eight early in the third quarter, but the Cavaliers stormed back to take an 81-59 lead heading into the fourth quarter. The Cavaliers built the lead to as many as 29 points in the fourth. Jason Maxiell led the Pistons with 16 points and nine rebounds. Charlie Villanueva was the only other Pistons player to reach double-figures. He had 11 points. Leon Powe led the Cavaliers in scoring with 16 points. LeBron James had 15 points and seven assists.

Ben Wallace (knees) and Chris Wilcox (back) were inactive for the Pistons. Wallace had missed eight games with a right patella tendon strain before returning to action Friday in a loss to Indiana.

Cavs complete rare sweep of Pistons
J.J. Hickson and Anthony Parker combined for 20 points in the decisive third quarter and Cleveland beat Detroit 104-79 on Sunday to give the Cavaliers their first season sweep of the Pistons in 30 years. Cleveland held a double-digit lead most of the game, although the Pistons cut it to 55-47 on a basket by Jonas Jerebko with 10 minutes left in the third quarter. Hickson and Parker took charge, combining to score 16 of Cleveland's next 19 points while Detroit went more than five minutes without a field goal. By the time Anderson Varejao scored on a behind-the-back pass from Mo Williams, Cleveland had increased its lead to 76-57. Cleveland led by as much as 27 in the fourth quarter. Hickson finished with 13 points and eight rebounds, Parker had 11 points and LeBron James had 15 points and seven assists while sitting out the fourth quarter. Leon Powe and Delonte West scored 16 and 15 points, respectively, off the bench. Cleveland has won 10 straight against Detroit, including last season's first-round sweep in the playoffs. Cleveland hadn't swept Detroit during a regular season since going 6-0 against the Pistons during the 1979-80 season.

Jason Maxiell had 16 points for Detroit and Charlie Villanueva had 11 off the bench. The Cavaliers are 12-1 since Shaquille O'Neal's thumb injury left them without a true center on the roster. While Hickson has filled in admirably, that may soon change. Cleveland could have Zydrunas Ilgauskas back in time for its next game Wednesday at New Orleans. Ilgauskas was dealt to Washington at the trade deadline as part of a three-team deal that brought Antawn Jamison and Sebastian Telfair to Cleveland. Ilgauskas' contract was subsequently bought out, allowing him to re-sign with Cleveland as early as Monday. On Sunday morning, the Cavaliers quietly hoisted a banner celebrating this season's second consecutive Central Division championship. Cleveland was the first team this season to clinch a division. Much like last year, no announcement or formal ceremony was held to celebrate the third division title in franchise history.

Notes: Cleveland outrebounded Detroit in the first half 23-11. The Cavs had as many offensive rebounds (11) as the Pistons had in the half. ... James was honored before the game for becoming the youngest player to reach 15,000 points in his career (25 years, 79 days). He surpassed Kobe Bryant (27 years, 136 days) on Friday. ... Darnell Jackson was recalled from the NBA Development League after spending one day with the Erie BayHawks. ... Detroit's Ben Wallace missed the game after injuring both knees in a loss Friday to the Pacers. ... Rodney Stuckey returned to Cleveland after collapsing on the court there during a timeout on March 5. Sunday was his second game back.

NBA Game Summary - Detroit at Cleveland
Final Score: Cleveland 104, Detroit 79
Leon Powe led six Cavaliers in double figures with a season-high 16 points, as Cleveland cruised to a 104-79 drubbing of the lowly Detroit Pistons at Quicken Loans Arena. LeBron James and Delonte West each scored 15 points for the Central Division- champion Cavs, winners of seven straight. J.J. Hickson checked in with 13 points and eight rebounds, while Mo Williams ended with 12 points and eight assists in the victory.

Cleveland pulled off a sweep of Detroit for only the second time in franchise history (1979-80). Jason Maxiell had team-highs of 16 points and nine rebounds for the Pistons, who have dropped five in a row overall. Detroit trailed 28-20 after 12 minutes and made just two field goals through the first six minutes of the second frame. Two James free throws pushed Cleveland's lead to 44-25 with five minutes left in the quarter, which ended with a 53-41 score. Maxiell put in two from the foul line with just over five minutes left in the third to cut the deficit to 64-53. Hickson then bookended a pair of Anthony Parker three-pointers with a pair of layups for a healthy 74-53 advantage. Parker, who ended with 11 points, finished the quarter with a jumper and the 81-59 differential was never challenged in the final 12 minutes.

Game Notes
James also handed out seven assists...Cleveland has won seven in a row against the Pistons, who are winless in their last four trips to Cleveland...The Cavs outscored the Pistons at the foul line, 23-11.

The Pistons vs The Cavaliers
The 23-46 Pistons are in Cleveland to take on the 55-15 Cavaliers tonight. LeBron James is averaging 34.3 points, 11.0 rebounds and 8.3 assists in three victories this season against the Pistons. What’s even worse is that Pistons are now on a nine game road losing streak.

As we know Rodney is back, but Ben Wallace is headed back to the bench after injuring his knee’s in Friday night’s game against the Pacers. No problem, it just means more Ohio Baby Eating time. With the Pistons record, I think they need a new slogan.

Tip is at 6:00 pm EST and will be broadcast on FS Detroit with the radio broadcast over at 97.1 The Ticker or follow the action online over at NBA.com.

No Madness
Given the recent history of the Pistons-Cavaliers series, a Detroit win at Cleveland would have overshadowed Northern Iowa over Kansas as the weekend’s biggest upset. But they can rest easy in Cedar Falls : The spotlight remains theirs; there was no madness in Cleveland ’s March air Sunday night. The Cavs completed the season sweep of the Pistons, beating them for the third time in 16 days and fourth this year after sweeping them out of last year’s playoffs, with a 104-79 win that saw the Pistons – briefly healthy en masse for Friday’s game at Indiana – again forced to alter their active list when Ben Wallace, after reaggravating his knee injury against the Pacers, couldn’t go against Cleveland. Cleveland, continuing the Pistons’ recent trend of sputtering road starts, stretched its lead to 19 points by the midpoint of the third quarter, but the Pistons cut it to 12 by halftime and eight early in the third quarter before the Cavs again turned it up a notch on a night LeBron James never had to extend himself, finishing with 15 points, three boards and seven assists in 31 quiet minutes, taking only nine shots and getting to the foul line only three times. “We’re at a point right now where we don’t want to take any steps backward heading into the playoffs,” James said. “We’re playing some great basketball right now and we want to finish the season the right way.”

It was the Pistons’ ninth straight road loss and allowed Cleveland to get its first season sweep of Detroit in 30 years. “Every game is a challenge for us,” John Kuester said after the Pistons had lost their fifth straight. “That’s one thing we understand. Every opponent we play is a team we’ve got to be ready and locked in to play 48 minutes, regardless of what their record is. We’re trying to get better. Even in that first half, we were there but we didn’t have the type of effort we had in the last half of that (Friday) Indiana game and we have to have that consistently. We can’t just be going out there.” Maybe the most notable thing about a game that played out to expectations – Cleveland, the runaway leader for the East’s No. 1 playoff seed with a 56-15 record and a six-game cushion over Orlando in the loss column – was Kuester continuing the trend he began to start Friday’s second half. DaJuan Summers is getting his chance at playing time over Austin Daye as Tayshaun Prince’s backup small forward. Daye played just 1:43 of Friday’s game, getting a quick hook for an apparent defensive lapse, and Summers seized the opportunity presented him by hitting 4 of 7 shots, including a 3-pointer, in scoring 12 points to go with four rebounds in 16 minutes. And Daye didn’t get off the bench Sunday night until garbage time, Summers coming on for Prince in each half. Summers had eight points and two rebounds in 19 minutes, while Daye went scoreless while playing the final five minutes at shooting guard.

There isn’t a lot to read into that, other than Kuester backing up what he’s said all along: Summers, despite getting comparatively few chances to play in games, has been doing things in practice that fill the front office and coaching staffs with confidence his future is as bright as Daye or Jonas Jerebko’s. Rodney Stuckey’s return to Cleveland wasn’t as smashing as his return to the lineup on Friday, when he scored 25 points in 27 minutes. The Indiana game was his first since his March 5 collapse in Cleveland . This time around, Stuckey was held to four points and four assists in 24 minutes – but at least he left the arena upright and accompanied the team back to Detroit , a far better outcome than leaving via stretcher and spending the night in a Cleveland hospital while his teammates sweated word of his condition. His backcourt mate, Rip Hamilton, had perhaps the most forgettable weekend of his NBA career – and certainly of his Pistons career. After going scoreless, shooting 0 for 3 in 19 minutes at Indiana, Hamilton was again ineffective at Cleveland . He was 1 of 8 and finished with six points in 19 minutes again.

TEAM COLORS
White Hot – The player of the month for March continues to be Jason Maxiell, hands down. Maxiell had another nice showing against the Cavs, giving the Pistons 16 points and nine rebounds. Over his past 10 games, Maxiell has averaged 11.3 points and 10.9 rebounds while maintaining his productivity in extended minutes, defying the conventional wisdom that he would wear down when pushing his minutes into the high 20s or beyond. In addition to improving the consistency on his mid-range jump shot, better defensive rebounding – Maxiell has always been a strong offensive rebounder – has been a key to his resurgence.

BLUE COLLAR – Cleveland made a largely overlooked free-agent signing last summer that could pay nice dividends for the Cavs in the playoffs, especially if Shaquille O’Neal’s thumb injury keeps him out of the first round or limits his effectiveness, when it signed the oft-injured Leon Powe. Going back to high school and extending to last spring, Powe has endured three ACL reconstructions. But he’s tough, fundamentally sound and widely acknowledged as a great teammate. Powe finished with a team-high 16 points and seven boards in 21 minutes off the bench for Cleveland, which is still shorthanded up front without both Shaq and Zydrunas Ilgauskas, expected to re-sign with Cleveland as soon as Monday after being traded last month and bought out by Washington.

RED FLAG – Whatever the Pistons’ pregame routine is on the road, they might want to shake it up. They trailed the Cavs by 12 at halftime Sunday night – and that counts as great progress over the last three road games when they trailed Atlanta (28), Boston (29) and Indiana (21) by a combined 78 points. The 12-point halftime deficit at Cleveland could have been much worse; the Cavs led by 19 midway through the quarter. The Pistons have shown, in wins over NBA heavyweights like Denver, Orlando, Atlanta, Boston and San Antonio, that they can compete with anyone on a given night – but they can’t compete with lottery teams most nights if they’re going to spot the other guy 20 points.

It’s All About Balls
The Pistons just got swept this season by the Cleveland Cavaliers, the first time that happened in 30 years. The 79-104 loss is really an afterthought after what has turned out to be a season of frustration and disappointment. This game just added to the mess that is the Detroit Pistons 2009-2010 season.

The only thing positive of not from this game for a Detroit fan was the play of Jason Maxiell. Jason led the Pistons with 16 points, 9 boards and a block. Nothing against Maxi, but when he leads the team with 16, that stat pretty much tells the story of the game.

One thing I am happy about….that Fred McCleod (Ex Pistons broadcaster) is in Cleveland and is as annoying as ever, just listen to him call the block on JJ. He seems to have turned it up substantially since heading to the land of LeBron and I for one am happy he’s anywhere but here.
