I would offer 2 of our 2nd's and the Euro we got from NY for the Mav's 13 pick. That would allow us to gamble on a project big at 10 and draft for depth at 13

I'm not so sure the Mavs are interested in euro projects. I believe they are looking for vets that can contribute or future pics as assets.

As a Euro they would hold his rights and he would not count vs the capspace. In fact if they took the offer they would likely draft Euro players who would stay in Europe for a season or two to retain value without costing capspace

I keep thinking about what centers are available, what they would cost us, and how much of an improvement they would be. Overall I just come to the conclusion that we're better off picking Gobert and using our cap space to address the bench. We need a guy that can rebound and defend the paint. I don't see much of a chance that Gobert won't be able to do those two things. Use him the same way Indy uses Hibbert.

I'm with you regarding gobert. Not a lot of good free agent targets at center and a trade for the center we want would cost too much. Draft gobert and sign a perimeter defender, scorer and maybe resign Maynor.

This is one draft where I wouldn't want Portland to trade up for the #1 pick. Maybe I have blinders on but I just can't see 206lb. Noel, bad knee and all being worth it to Portland for the cost, whatever it might be.

I would rather see a deal with Leonard and the #10 pick to New Orleans for Lopez and Olidapo, if he's still on board at #6.

From what I read the rumour(and it is just a rumour) is that Dallas wants to get all the cap space they can for Howard. So who would you take on in salary from the Mavs just to get the #13 pick, knowing you likely are giving up on free agents this summer in exchange for a draft prospect at #13?

Looking at what Dallas has, there are a few contracts that could be had that expire a year from now.

Vince Carter $3.1 million
Shawn Marian $9.3 million (yikes)
OJ mayo $4.2 m but has a player option so don't know if that would work
Rodrigue Beaubois $3.2 m

All of these players expire the 13-14 season.

That's how I feel and why a few pages back I campaigned for Dieng!

I would think they would definitely do Thompson + #1 for LMA. I dont think i would do it though. Waiters though?? thats very tempting, but they very well could laugh at that.

We might as well include Wes in a deal that nets us Waiters. That might help make it a little more even.

Matthews would kill the deal for them seeing as how they want to maintain enough cap-space to attract a max FA next summer (Lebron)

Are you sure? If they dump AV, Gee, and dealt us Thompson and Waiters plus their 1st for LMA and Wes, they would have just about 36,000,000 in salary going into the 2014 offseason. I would guess the cap will be up above 60 million by then, which would mean they would be able to offer LeBron a max deal right?

My vote is for Rudy Gobert at 10.. Sure he's thin but he still has 30 lb's on the guy that's going #1. I like his game too. He really seems to establish himself on defense. With that mindset, paired with that freakish reach, I don't see how he couldn't come in and compete for minutes immediately. Hopefully him and Nic sharing the same agent works well in our favor for getting him in for a workout. Personally I think he fits the mold of what this team needs more so than any other Center in this draft.

Noel
Thompson
SF
Waiters
Lilliard

not bad at all.

Cavs might as well just keep the combo of Noel/Thompson/Waiters and make a play at Lebron then.

I agree with Jhern, between Gobert, Oneal, and Leonard we should have enough depth to cover C.

I really hope we're able to use those 2nd rounders to dump Freeland. Without cap holds that would leave us about 16.8 to use in FA.

I think it would be important to get one or two good bench players that can grow with our core over the next 4 years. I don't want to see us tie up a bunch of contracts on guys like Dalembert considering this is our last shot at using our cap space. Then fill in remaining spots with the vet min/lle

What are you smoking thinking Cleveland would trade Noel, Thompson and Waiters for LMA and Matthews even you threw in Batum.

What I like about Dieng is actually his footwork and post moves. He looks like a guy who has been doing it for a few years longer, which he has. Dieng at. 10 though? I dunno

I was trying to point out in a subtle fashion to "case2012" why trading Waiters, Thompson and the #1 for LMA is not a good idea for Cleveland

I have to say when I woke up this morning this was what I was thinking. I don't love it but Gobert has been reminding me more and more of Hibbert.

That team looks like a 2nd round playoff exit at best.

I'f Still rather have

Noel
Thompson
SF
Waiters
Irving

+ capspace, and take the chance at hitting the homerun at small forward.
