Oh I know. Much more starpower regardless of city. But rest assure if Giannis was in LA, he would be a global phenomenon. Not to harken back to defensive juggernaut Alex Caruso again, but I'm fairly certain he's more famous at this point than Middleton.

ESPN is not in the business of naming the MVP. They are in the entertainment business. I have no idea how some of you fail to understand their motivation and allow them to constantly draw you offside.

It's why they spend so much time on Lebron, the Cowboys, the Yankees, Duke, etc. Either you are part of those huge fanbases and love it or you likely hate them but either way you both tune in and talk about it.

Simply support other content is how you effect change.

I decided to post a top fifteen this week since there was so much movement between 8th and 15th.

While Russell Westbrook has gotten any available Rockets' headlines, Harden has continued to be the Rockets' best player, putting up 33/8/8/2/1 with 3.6 TO's on 47/40/87 (approximately .662 TS%) splits while the team has gone 9-2 over its last eleven. That's better than or equal to Westbrook in scoring average, rebounding average, assisting average, steals average, blocks average, TO's average, 3P%, FT%, and TS% over that span. The only two places Westbrook has bested him are FG% and +/- (by less than a point). Oh, and Westbrook has missed three of those eleven games!

Westbrook has been insane in 2020. He is averaging 32-33 PPG for 2 months on great efficiency. He was clearly the best player on his team in January and he is near the same level with Harden in February. That's a lot of games and he deserves the Rockets' headlines. Having two MVPs in the same lineup is what makes the Rocket's contenders. That was the point.

You're jumping to conclusions. You see their rundowns when watching actual games, which is what their networks are still good for. I have not watched any of their talking head shows in decades, including sportscenter.

And I'm not ignorant of why they are doing what they are doing. I'm simply stating that it is a sad, failure of a conversation to be had.

Pretty good for a player that only dunks and has no skills i guess.

congrats to you on not watching the yelling heads shows. But you see this forum and how literally every day we have multiple threads where people are all angst-ridden over what some shock jock says. You may be immune but clearly a ton of people aren't.

I watch games on ESPN and have never had any issues filtering out any of the silly commentary. Of course I never watch pre-game or half-time stuff so its just fighting through some of the subpar broadcasters. But that's every network.

Local broadcasts are almost universally worse though. For instance my Mavs have a good pbp guy but Derek Harper's "analysis" is some guy hits a 3---then he tells you that's what that guy's game is except the guy hitting the 3 was Ben Simmons. And Skin is entertaining, but such a massive homer.

But that's okay. I never watch games thinking I'm going to great analysis. If I want that content there are other platforms for it. It's all a matter of understanding that they aren't broadcasting games to suit me but to suit the biggest audience possible nationally and the same thing locally only with clearly a pro home team flair. That's what the larger consumer base wants.

We can get mad and wring our hands, but frankly it's on us for not understanding hard core basketball nerds aren't who they are catering to. They know they have us regardless.
