This makes me sad. Hope he does great things for them.
I was not impressed with what he did for Miami, but I also recognize that Spo demanded him to change his game several times. Wish him nothing but the best.

It's just crazy how much Zion is like Sir Charles which is another data point that seems to answer the question to me, could top players from the 80s/90s be just as good in today's game... I think there's no question they could and with the court opened up, maybe even better then they were.

Re: Around the NBA streets Vol. 5: ONE MORE TIME
There is a move I seem to miss that I remember MJ and O.Thorpe doing a bunch that I haven't really seen all that much for years now, the ability to EASILY palm a basketball. Both MJ and Thorpe would use the palming of a basketball to their advantages, MJ did everything with that ability and Thrope utilized it to keep the ball away from defenders when attacking the basket and also being able to dunk without going at the basket but by the basket where he'd dunk it from the side while going past the basket during a game(not in just a dunk competition) plus both Thrope and MJ's palming the ball allowed a lot of interesting layups. Yes a lot of people can palm a basketball, but not many can wave it around with 1 hand(or they don't) allowing a lot of interesting moves. Thorpe would routinely attack the basket by palming the ball, holding it straight over his head(where nobody could get it) and just dunk in traffic. Why has that type of dunk disappeared in games? It's basically unstoppable.

This "modern" era basketball had been tried before, both in college and the NBA but not enough players were good 3pt shooters(didn't have the technology to learn about shooting as they have now). Loyola Marymount in the late 80s/early 90s played with pace and 3pt shooters(no space since the bigs couldn't shoot 3s) and averaged 122 ppg behind Hank Gathers, Bo Kimble
Loyola Marymount's coach Paul Westfall was hired by the Denver Nuggets(who had a HORRIBLE roster) and led them to a 20-62 record while having Fat Leaver(5'10'' PG) average 26 ppg, Orlando Woolridge (good but older) 25ppg, and Walter Davis(36) almost averaging 19 a game when he played. They also had a rookie named Chris Jackson who later became Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf who was incredible in college as a scorer but ended up not having his scoring exploited but they tried to turn him into a regular PG running the offense instead of it being built around him.
ESPN did a 30 for 30 on Paul Westfall - Guru of Go.

An interesting NCAA game that happened a couple of weeks before Hank Gathers died on the court was in 1990 when it was Loyola Marymount vs LSU, LSU had stars Chris Jackson(who set records for PPG and total points by a freshman the previous season) and Stanley Roberts(who was a 1st round pick as a center the next year), another interesting tidbit for LSU, they had some freshman backup center named Shaquille O'Neal who I believe had double-digit blocks that game.
Here's that game...

Here's Len Bias, who was selected #2 overall in 1986 by Boston died 2 days later from cardiac arrhythmia induced by a cocaine overdose.
A few years later Boston went through this again with Reggie Lewis, who was an all-star at this point but at age 27 collapsed during a PLAYOFF GAME which ended up being his last game.

Here are Reggie Lewis's highlights from that last game.
A few years later Boston went through this again with Reggie Lewis, who was an all-star at this point but at age 27 collapsed during a PLAYOFF GAME which ended up being his last game.
The following day, Lewis checked into New England Baptist Hospital, where he underwent a series of tests by more than a dozen heart specialists, who the Celtics called their "dream team" of doctors. Lewis was diagnosed with "focal cardiomyopathy", a disease of the heart muscle that can cause irregular heartbeat and heart failure. Lewis was told his condition was most likely career-ending. However, he later sought a second opinion from Dr. Gilbert Mudge at Brigham and Women's Hospital, who diagnosed Lewis with neurocardiogenic syncope, a less serious non-fatal condition instead. As a result, Lewis began working out in preparation for returning for the 1994 season. Mudge was later cleared of any wrongdoing, and he insisted he had never authorized Lewis to resume workouts
On July 27, 1993, during an off-season practice at Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts, Lewis suffered sudden cardiac death on the basketball court. He was 27 years old. James Crowley, a Brandeis University police officer who happened upon the gym on a routine patrol, and another Brandeis University police officer attempted to revive Lewis by using mouth-to-mouth resuscitation, but they were unsuccessful.
