Bring Donte home? Thinking about a Bobby for DDV swap and if the Knicks might even throw in some 2nd's or Miles McBride or something. Would prefer Josh Hart but apparently he's not able to be traded this season.

If there is a defense that works in the NBA as currently constituted, I haven't seen it. The drop defense is like democracy. It's been said of democracy that it's a bad system of government, except all the others are worse. The drop defense is a bad defense, but for the Bucks all the others are worse.

Let Brook eat and get his blocks and live with all those uncovered elbow jumpers. To build on your IT analogy, leaving those floaters open is a feature, not a bug.

Yeah, the prevalence of drop has reawakened the dormant skills of floaters and midrange jumpers. This has made drop less effective, but it hasn't made anything else more effective.

I'd rather have guys taking open floaters and mid ranges vs open corner 3s.

the issue this year with the drop is were not playing it. i mean lopez kinda is but the rest of the team isnt.

plus to play the drop or any defense for that matter.....you have to get the defense set. we are the laziest most unaware ive seen us just getting back into good defending position. i dont care what you play if youre not back to play it then youre gonna suck on that side

Brook is only half of the equation. The Drop was incredibly effective when paired with Bledsoe. DDV, the younger legs version of Pat, and even George Hill were also good at the rear contest. Our current backcourt stinks at getting over screens and applying pressure. I also think the game has adjusted: players are simply better at shooting floaters, drawing fouls on rear pressure, and using the snake dribble to attack.

I was shocked when Brooks received the big contract from Houston. However, Brooks is having a nice year. Personally, I think he has a few screws loose, but so did Rodman when helped the Bulls to 3 straight. After Jan 15th:

MKE: Brooks, Eason
Hou: BLopez, Pat, Marjon, 2nd

I like Brooks more than most people but not here.

Love the idea of getting DDV back. Doesn't seem like there are any hard feelings there.

If you were a Bucks fan long enough to remember the train wreck of garbage we trotted out there just to have some 7' size in the lane. EJ, Alton Lister, Udoh, Gadz, the spanish dude... way more garbage -- we passed on Chris Paul for a stiff center with no J and drafted another 1st round psycho Sanders... Brook came out the same year as Bogut and is still healing all of our pain from the trainwreck that has been our center position for like 40 years.

Brook went two spots after Joe Alexander.

If you could combine all their skills into one player sure. Individually, no.

We need a real GM intervention on these kind of trade proposals.

Other than:

1) Bobby being a much better player than DDV and other than

2) they play two entirely different positions and other than

3) this trade would leave the Bucks with a real problem of lacking enough bigs and other than

4) one player was chosen to be on Team USA and the other will never be; this is a great proposal.

PS I like DDV and he would add more defense. He's also shooting the best of his career, but that's probably an anomaly. He's also making 12 million a year, which is too much to trade for; otherwise I'd trade Beauchamp for him.

I suppose Bobby's name was thrown out there for salary purposes but you don't want to swap Bobby for DDV. Just because salaries work doesn't make it a good trade.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Here for the Donte conversation. (Would also accept any other Knicks guard)
