This is a must read for those trying to understand Orlando Magic salary situation and Dwight Howard options.

very helpful thanks for posting. i wasnt aware we could get so far under the cap this offseason. we would be left with almost no one useful but if it can get howard the second star and makes him happy you do it. you could also look at trading duhon and the 19 pick or maybe if your real lucky hedo and the 19pick and cash considerations

Bring his buddy Courtney Lee too. Shouldn't break up that back-court tandem

J-Rich needs to kick rocks.....Too inconsistent and virtually brings nothing to the table that Redick can't emulate

More from YBR:
Its not the fans, its the organization. They have to act like they care before he even thinks about signing

He knows fans love him, but it seems like people in the organization from owner on down don't love him. Hasn't got a call from Martins or the Devos ever since his surgery. They only talk to him when they want him to sign a contract

Not surprised if this is true. Our management seems like one of the worse in the league, they don't know how to keep star players. They just think spending money will equate winning.

One more from YBR:
No not really because he's words and thoughts have been 'on to Brooklyn' he hasn't been focused on who to bring here because he's not even sure he wants to be here. He knows Smooth, Jamal C, and others are out there but he doesn't think the Magic will even make attempts at them if he did stay.

As in where his mind is, he feels he needs to be in brooklyn but I'm not sure brooklyn is where his heart wants to be. His thing is those guys up there act like they want him and maybe only 1 or 2 players in the whole Magic franchise act like they care about him or even will stick up for him in the public when bad things are said about him

My early guess on what the Magic offseason will look like

1. Otis steps down and Foyle replaces him 5/14
2. Nelson opts out on 5/15
3. Earl declines his option (not sure the time table for him to notify the team on this, but I'm thinking hereish)
4. Magic cut Wafer
5. Magic fire SVG
6. Magic hire D'Antoni
7. Dwight signs extension
8. Magic trade rights to Fran Vasquez to Minnesota for their #18 on draft night
9. Magic draft whoever Neon says they are going to draft ;) BPA would be my preference
10. Magic keep JJ
11. Magic sign Nash @ 4yrs/24M (whatever the full MLE is)
12. Magic match Anderson at $9M/yr
13. Magic lose Ish Smith
14. Magic lose Orton
15. Magic lose Clark

Wait, didn't martins say he has been in touch with dwight through texts ands stuff since the surgery? YBR is saying Martins and Devos haven't been in touch? Something is not right here

This is a far bigger problem than anything in this organization. And it has been for a long time now.

The D'Antoni three point heavy offense matches our personnel and gives us an added bonus in the Nash sweepstakes IMO. Matching Anderson at his market value (which I think will be around $9M) allows us to keep an asset that can either perform for us on the court or be used in a trade. Also, keeping Anderson at $9M doesn't hurt our cap room as to get considerably under the cap we still need to trade JRich and Baby for expirings and cut Hedo and Duhon. I think these points heavily inform the Magic to doing each.

DON'T LOVE HIM? ARE YOU KIDDING ME? IS THIS THE "DATING GAME" OR THE NBA? HOW MUCH "LOVE" DOES DWIGHT SHOW WHEN HE BACK DOORS SVG BY TRYING TO SECRETLY GET HIM FIRED WHILE PUBLICLY ACTING LIKE HE IS AN INNOCENT "BEAVER CLEAVER"?

AND HOW MUCH LOVE DOES DWIGHT SHOW WHEN HE HAULS ASS TO L.A. TO HAVE BACK SURGERY (BTW, HE ANNOUNCED IT BEFORE EVEN INFORMING THE TEAM) AND THEN NEEDLESSLY STAYS OUT THERE INSTEAD OF COMING BACK AND SHOWING HIS SUPPORT FOR HIS TEAM AND TEAMMATES?

AND THEN HE HAS THE NERVE TO SAY HE WAIVED HIS OPT OUT BECAUSE OF "LOYALTY" TO THE MAGIC. WHAT A JOKE! DWIGHT IS LOYAL TO ONE THING...DWIGHT. I REALLY THINK THE ONLY REASON HE WAIVED HIS OPT OUT WAS BECAUSE OF HIS BACK PROBLEMS AND WAS WORRIED ABOUT PASSING A PHYSICAL. NOTHING DWIGHT HAS DONE HAS INDICATED TO ME HE HAS ANY LOYALTY OR "LOVE" FOR THE MAGIC. IT ALL HAS BEEN ABOUT DWIGHT. IF YOU "LOVE" YOUR TEAM, YOU DO NOT PUT THEM THROUGH THE CIRCUS DWIGHT DID THIS SEASON.

I KNOW WHAT I AM SAYING WILL PISS A LOT OF YOU OFF. AND I WANT DWIGHT TO REMAIN HERE IN ORLANDO. BUT LETS NOT FOOL OURSELVES ABOUT DWIGHT'S LOVE FOR US, THE TEAM, THE MANAGEMENT, OR ANYTHING ELSE. LIKE MANY STARS THAT COME INTO THE NBA, THEY USUALLY BECOME NARCISSISTIC. UNFORTUNATELY FOR DWIGHT, HE HAS SLIPPED INTO THAT VALLEY. AND THEY GET AWAY WITH IT BECAUSE WE AS FANS ARE WILLING TO ACCEPT, OR OVERLOOK IT, BECAUSE OF OUR STRONG DESIRE TO SEE OUR TEAM WIN A CHAMPIONSHIP. AND WE DO IT BY IGNORING OBVIOUS CHARACTER FLAWS AND BEHAVIOR THAT WE WOULD NORMALLY FIND UNACCEPTABLE FROM ANYONE ELSE WHO WASN'T ATHLETICALLY GIFTED.

THE WORD "TEAM" DOESN'T HAVE AN "I" IN IT. BUT "DWIGHT" CERTAINLY DOES. AND SVG'S HEAD IS GOING TO BE CHOPPED OFF TO PLACATE THE "I" IN DWIGHT. AND THAT IS A SHAME. SVG IS A VERY GOOD COACH AND A FINE MAN. HE DESERVES BETTER THAN HE HAS GOTTEN AT THE HANDS OF DWIGHT HOWARD.
There will be life after Dwight.

I'm tired of people bashing Dwight for not coming back and "supporting the team." His doctors told him to stay, when you have back surgery you shouldn't be flying. He has to stay in LA and rehab.

+1 and also it is disgusting that he cares more about his image more than this team. In another post by YBR he said that he was upset with his teammates for not standing up for him to the media do u blame them from the beginning of this year all the way till the end u bitched about not having good ones and obviously you weren't 100% invested how could u be with the circus around the franchise and you expect them to have your back and to go to war with you oh plz just grow up and go to New Jersey so when u cry about not getting a personal jet or some bull **** thing the fan base will rip you a new one BBD is being used on the wrong player
Fine print disclaimer for Fultz:
I am high on Markelle Fultz. Yes I understand he is not perfect and needs to shoot more and better and turn the ball over less. I would really like to see him play one more year… and I did and he sucks time to move on.

YBR will relay these comments good or bad to Dwight and his decision will be much easier! I don't know why people bash Howard he's a sensitive guy that wants to win...yes he didn't handle the situation this past season the right way but he's human and we all make mistakes. Dwight's image with the fans is the only reason why he could possibly stay with the Magic...so please watch what you say!

Don't take your frustrating out on Dwight, take it out team management. Had they surround him with real talent he wouldn't have ask for a trade in the first place! I'm convinced RDV would do the right thing knowing he has this new arena/wants to win now :D

Return to Orlando Magic
