Sounds to me like in terms of basketball, they don't want him back; like if they do bring him back it's because of his fan appeal.

Looking back at it all:

1) It seemed as if Lin wasn't that much of a priority. We looked into every other option other than Lin, but they didn't work out...and we always had the backup of matching the original, reported deal from Houston.

2) Morey outsmarted us again. He molested us in the T-Mac trade, he molested us in the Camby trade, and he may potentially molest us with Lin. We based all of our moves and decision-making on the terms of the original deal, and then he changes it to the poison-pill contact. Morey wants Lin. He's not an idiot; he knows Lin's not only good, but his ethnicity is a cash cow (like Yao).

3) The other wrench in the situation was the ability to get Felton. Let's face it, Felton is much more of a Woodson PG than Lin is, and management may believe Felton is a better fit for this squad. Felton was told they weren't pursuing Lin anymore - verbally confirmed by Felton himself - and was likely promised the starting job.

This is what I do not get. What part of Woodson's system does make Felton a better fit? Does he like his PGs overweight?

Or does Woodson think Lin is a "D'Antoni player" and doesn't fit a plodding ISO offense.

Well collectively Woodson and his mentor Isaiah have typically been involved with guys that have a lot of have a lot of swag, and like to dribble a lot and take difficult outside shots outside of the flow of the offense.

I think "Melo is scumbag" is actually an important point to make about the Knicks. If he is, that's something that's going to cast a shadow over at least next 3 years. By the way, I don't think that's something KnicksGod ever said. I sure did though!

And I AM in fact making a point about Knicks basketball.

People are drawing conclusions about the Knicks organization and its players over something that has not happen.

Knicks were ALWAYS going to take 3 days to match. There was ALWAYS the possibility and likelihood Lin was going to get a poison pill offer sheet (he didn't get the worst one possible) and the Knicks knew the tax implications of Lin's free agency status in February when the break out occurred.

A reasonable position advocated by many here is that NOTHING has changed or happened over the last few days - that the Knicks always knew the implications before the particulars and have probably know what they were going to do all along.

But some fans still want to believe the "sources" and wholly and wildly swing their opinions based on each new "source" tweet.

Knicks knew EVERY permutation about this scenario MONTHS ago. The things like the Bird Rights ruling and what Houston could ACTUALLY offer in a REAL offer sheet were all calculated - it was just a matter of what scenario - a, b, c, d, e, etc. presented itself.

The point of my Sunday prediction about exactly what KG would be posting today is to point something about relevant to the KNICKS - that there is no reason at this moment to feel any differently about the KNicks organization now than you did on Thursday of last week.

If yo don't get the relevance of what I'm trying to point out and how is pertain to the KNICKS, I'm not sure what else I can do to help you.

Didn't I read that the TV contract was already negotiated and done? That money is already coming in, Lin or no Lin. It would only affect future contracts.

What about overseas?

That's what I meant. I heard or read somewhere that the overseas contract was negotiated post-Linsanity, but was already set for a few years.

I think what they mean is, Raymond Felton is a name that casual fans recognize, and probably believe to be the same player he was in his first tenure here.

I really can't imagine that Woodson doesn't like Lin. Lin played well for Woodson, was very coachable, and actually won us a few games (Philadelphia anyone). To think that he actually wants the fattest guard in the league to replace the young talent he already has seems ridiculous. Woodson is not that stupid of a man.
