Its not like we have a strawberry smoothie to offer, it would be the crap cola of Hill, Nash and Houston pick.

Really? I understand that he's the youngest, and probably has the most cap friendly contract but his history of injuries raises a red flag. I'd much rather go after a big via draft or free agency next season.

He's on the hook for this season and a player option after that, which he most likely won't pick up and will look for a long term deal close to the max, so you can put him on trial and improve the quality of play this season and make a decision based on his health afterward. This ofcourse with the assumption that the management is not on a full on tank mission.

Lopez
Boozer
Johnson
Kobe
Lin

is not a bad line up at all.

not with the contract... I would bank on Deron playing solid, but he has big bucks coming for too many years.

Ya but the counterpoint is that either we spend nearly 80-100m on Rondo or have just two more years of Deron. He's overpriced yes, but he fits really nicely with Kobe and he's easy to play next to (can play off-ball). I can't think of a better PG to play next to Kobe.

There's really no point in swallowing Deron, or going after Rondo for that matter. There are so many good pgs every free agency that paying someone who's only going to depreciate isn't worth it.

Lance is being shopped apparently. I know a lot of you guys don't like him but he has the kind of tough mentality that Kobe would like. What would it take to get him ?

That would be the logical thing to do.

No, man... That's a mediocre team. They'd be lucky to get out of the 1st round. :nonono:

i agree it is pretty mediocre for the western conference, but its a playoff team nonetheless.

Def a playoff team no doubt, but I'd rather see the Lakers go far in the playoffs.

Looks like teams are asking for 1st round picks to offload Stephenson but Bobcats aren't willing to give up a 1st rounder. Maybe we could do something like Nash for Lance + their 2nd round pick this year (which will basically be a late 1st rounder) or maybe there's someone else we like on their team...

Lin for Lance + Charlotte's pick makes a lot of sense for both teams. They desperately need a PG that can free up Kemba to play more SG and frankly Lin can make some shots which no one else on their roster can.

If the Lakers and Nets what to move some pieces a team like the Raptors will be needed to facilitate the trade... they have something like $25m in expiring contracts

Return to Los Angeles Lakers
