Re: 2015 NFL Draft
I'm wondering what CB makes it to our second pick. It doesn't look like Darby will make it now.

He might. Right now it's Waynes, Peters, and Williams as the consensus first rounders at CB. Byron Jones might have vaulted himself into the mix as well. Depending on needs, Darby might slide into the 2nd.
I'm more interested in Eric Rowe, anyways. I think he's exactly the type of CB this team needs at this point, and should be there in the 2nd.

Not sure how highly you guys regard Bleacher Report, but I don't know a lot about the prospects expected to go late in the draft so I just took a look at their article on diamonds in the rough, so to speak, and Rowe was on that list. What I read has me interested, with his ability to also play safety giving us great versatility. I also liked the sound of guys like Waller and Abdullah, as well as Hundley as a mid-round pick for us, having the talent to develop into a first-string QB should Kap not develop this season, although I fully suspect he will.

Re: 2015 NFL Draft
Hundley would be intriguing depending on how far he drops. Doubt Baalke's willingness to take a QB already, though.

Re: 2015 NFL Draft
You don't think they'd take someone with that sort of talent, just in case Kap flat-lines in his development? Assuming that he falls low enough to be worth a pick.

They are talking about Hundley possibly being a 2nd rounder after his combine performance, I definitely don't see us taking him there.

Re: 2015 NFL Draft
how many teams are looking for QB in the 2nd?
Idk where Denver stands with Brock
TB will go in the first, Tenn as well should... maybe its Tennessee that would be looking QB in the 2nd...
Rams could be in play as well
Jets if they don't go in the first
AZ? doubt it
WSH? mehhh
not many that I can ponder about.

As the San Francisco 49ers retool their offense under new coach Jim Tomsula and offensive coordinator Geep Chryst, upgrading their WR corps figures to be a key emphasis this offseason.
Regardless of whether they end up re-signing veteran unrestricted free agent Michael Crabtree, it appears clear they will target the position via the draft.
"The 49ers’ offensive staff at the NFL combine included just three members: offensive coordinator Geep Chryst and wide receivers coaches Adam Henry and Ronald Curry," noted Eric Branch of the San Francisco Gate.
"That offers a bit more evidence that wide receiver tops the 49ers’ list of draft needs and they likely used plenty of their visits at the combine on speaking with players at that position.
"The 49ers could meet with up to 60 players at the combine. In Indianapolis, I learned of six prospects that had a formal sit-down with the team. Perhaps not surprisingly, three of the six were wide receivers."
The wide receivers with whom they met were Phillip Dorsett, Dorial Green-Beckham and Josh Harper. They also spoke with defensive end Arik Armstead, cornerback Marcus Peters and tight end Clive Walford.
ESPN NFL Insider Mel Kiper Jr. gave the Niners UCF wideout Breshad Perriman in his most recent mock draft:

2. CC's right - someone's gonna fall. I'm a BIG fan of Devin Funchess and he's getting pretty overlooked right now and could very well fall into the 2nd round after a mundane combine. Devin Smith would be intriguing in the 2nd round, as well, if we're looking at WRs.
It's possible we're talking about utilizing Funchess in different ways from each other but if I had my choice between the two, and factoring in where I believe both will go, I'd rather add Clive Walford to this offense (a little bit later on) than Funchess (a littler higher than Walford).

Re: 2015 NFL Draft
Oops. Forgot my 2nd point. Devin Smith is one of my favorites. His floor is lower than almost everybody grouped around him but he has a really high ceiling.
Everytime I think about him, though, I kind of get all sad that my wish of bringing Urban Meyer into the NFL didn't happen. (He wasn't going to take SF's calls even if they tried in my opinion for the record).

Walford is one of my mid round targets, actually. Well, at least before the SB/Combine. And we probably are talking about utilizing them differently.

Re: 2015 NFL Draft
I wouldn't hate Parker- he's got good speed and ball skills. He was a good redzone target with his ability to adjust to the ball quickly and also seemed to be decent on back-shoulder pass catches. I'm perhaps more intrigued with Strong with that 1st round pick. His speed tested more impressively than people thought and he hasn't had stellar play at the QB position, but still managed to produce impressive numbers. He needs some work on his blocking technique, but should be able to improve with his strength and physique.

Re: 2015 NFL Draft
If we're inclined to go WR, I'd strongly consider moving back or waiting for the second round. There's a lot of talent at the position in the late-first, early-second area. Take this all with a grain of salt, cause I'm not a college football guy, but I would be pretty happy if we ended the second day with one of the following (very loosely ranked): Cooper, White, Parker, Green-Beckham, Strong, D. Smith, Dorsett, Perriman, Funchess, or Coates. That's ten guys. Since 2008, the most WRs drafted before 46 (our second-round pick) is eight (2014), and the average is just under six. One of those guys, and probably two or three, will be there in the second. I'm not sure I wouldn't rather go CB or DE/OLB first.

I'm inclined to agree with that, CC. Unless Cooper somehow drops to us. Then we needs to spring our asses to the podium and not think twice.

How long have we been preaching WR or CB in the first round over the years? Lol, its deja vu... Or Groundhog day...

Re: 2015 NFL Draft
Here are a couple of off-the-top-of-my-head, post-combine, realistic mocks. No trades, and I'm assuming White & Waynes are gone.
What I'd like (sort of):
15: Eddie Goldman. Rather have Waynes, but I'd take Goldman over Davante Parker. I'm not in love with his play, but he has the talent.
Round 2: Bryce Petty. Might as well. QB is the biggest need on the team.
Round 3a: TJ Yeldon / Danielle Hunter / Phillip Dorsett / Devin Funchess... whoever's there.
Round 3b (They have 2 3rds right?): Another name from the 3a.
Round 4: Ifo
Round 5: Antwaan Goodley.
Round 6: Quandre Diggs (if he's there).
7: BPA
I'd prefer to trade up for Leonard Williams or trade down, but this is a scenario with no trades.

I know the Colin Kaepernick lynching is kind of your special side-project, NS, but if you honestly think QB is the biggest need on this team, then I really don't know how to take anything you say seriously.

Re: 2015 NFL Draft
- I don't like Goldman in a 3-4 at all. I'm much more interested in guys like Smith and Diggy with that 15th pick.
- Way too much talent in the 2nd round for us to take a QB. Especially a QB that probably wouldn't even get on the field for a couple of years. Hunter, Funchess, Rowe, Devin Smith, and Perriman are a few of those names.
- I wouldn't be opposed necessarily to taking Yeldon at that point, but this is a deep, deep RB class. We can legitimately land a back that can contribute to our platoon later (like a Kenny Hilliard, whom I'd love to add to our roster at some point either in the later rounds or as an UDFA).
- I also think we should probably take an OL (either an OT or an OG) at some point between 2-4 if the value is there. There are a few names there I'd be interested in as well.

Re: 2015 NFL Draft
If we take Petty in the 2nd round I know I'll throw up. Also we only have one 3rd as of now pending comp picks ?
