My God, didn't he give some BS a few days ago about how he'd play his heart out for whichever of the two teams he ended up on?

Horford visited with 4 teams. Look which one he doesn't mention. There were rumors that we almost had him, but it looks like he met with us simply as a courtesy - or just wasn't impressed with our presentation.

I believe it was a courtesy to SVG & Tellum due to the obvious impact SVG has had here.

He came, met Stan Van Bower and went on to the next stop.

If we get Horford we don't get Ish, Jon Boy & Bobo the Giant so...

Hope we meet Boston in the playoffs!

Preferably in the second round

Boston is all Isaiah Thomas.. After him, nothing on that roster means a thing to me. They were much better last year.

Marc Gasol is the best C in the game right now, is not arguable.

Asked whether it was his job to make sure the Spurs were ready to play, Popovich said, "I don't remember playing tonight. No Knute Rockne speeches. It's your job. If you're a plumber and you don't do your job, you don't get any work. I don't think a plumber needs a pep talk. A doctor botches operations, and he's not a doctor anymore. If you're a basketball player, you come ready. It's called maturity. It's your job."

I really like this quote.

This could apply to Dre. Pop is speaking some nasty truth.

Glad to see powerhouse teams go through the motions too like ours.

It's funny that SVG basically said the exact opposite following our loss last night, and I agree with him.

“We weren’t ready to play tonight, and that’s on me,” said Van Gundy after the Pistons were jumped in the first quarter. “You put a team out there with that level of readiness – that’s a coaching malfeasance.

Of course it's every player's individual responsibility to bring it every night, but sometimes for whatever reason that doesn't happen (obviously if it becomes a pattern, it's a much bigger problem). I don't care if you're a basketball player, plumber, or engineer, no one performs at 100% energy and efficiency every day. Everyone's prone to an off/day night, that doesn't excuse poor effort at all, but in the event that does happen any good coach, manager, boss etc. is gonna try to minimize that and prevent it from happening again.

I'm sure Pop is well aware of this, and maybe that's exactly what he's trying to do in motivating his guys with that quote... but when a team doesn't perform the boss doesn't just get to shrug his shoulders and say, "don't look at me, I'm not the one out there"

My $0.02 anyways, I'm sure Pop has forgotten more about preparing his team to play than I'll ever know lol.

My interpretation of SVG's quote is that the team wasn't prepared in terms of watching film, practicing & game planning specifically for the Sixers, not in terms of effort.

I agree with Pop's quote. You have to take with a grain of salt, but I agree with the general point he's making. I expect players to bring effort within reason; being unable to play like you normally would for health related reasons is totally fine, and pacing yourself for a long season is totally fine too.

LeBron has been pacing himself throughout the regular season for several years now. But I've never felt like he ever flat out fails to show up for a game. Moreso he will manage his energy for the first 3 quarters and then down the stretch if the game is close he'll take it up a notch to close it out.

That's Pop being Pop with the media though lol

SVG is not Pop with the media and as usual takes the blame for his boys.

Pop puts **** on his guys cause while he's speaking the truth he's not throwing his team under the bus either...he's sending them a more subtle message

Speaking of Pop being Pop with the media

R.I.P Craig! What courage!

Pop loved him & you can see how much in the short clip on youtube where Pop gotta talk about Sagar's passing...Pop shaking a little

I'm watching the Nets - Warriors game and the way the Nets generate open looks and the offense chugging alone makes ours look like D-League.

What's funny is they don't even have any elite shooters and they have less talent on their starting 5. But the way they generate these easy looks and get everyone playing with high energy is infectious, even if they lose a lot of games. Everyone is always moving, there's a cutter from the wing or corner, and if a ball handler gets trapped inside, someone always rotates on time to kick it back out to reset the offense in time. Something we never do.

Last I checked, I think the Nets were among the highest in the league in generating open shots per game, while we were in the bottom tier.

I think SVG really needs to fix up our offense, we can't keep rolling with our slow paced possessions and everyone sitting still like statues on every single possession.

they have somehow made Joe Harris and Sean Kirkpatrick into good NBA players, and have made Anthony Bennett look like he might actually stick in the NBA.

So i am mentioning this because a lot of us had poor experiences with "other moderators" but Mods were providing a opportunity for a "CLEAN SLATE" on RealGM. Per Mass dispatch

For those of you interested in applying, here are the Three Qualifications for “Clean Slate”

- Valid E-Mail on your RealGM Account. If you need to change the E-Mail on your account, just let me know and I'll do it for you.

- Users must have an appropriate Signature, Avatar and Location Line if they choose to use one. If you do not, you need to change the inappropriate ones before you send your PM.

- If an Applicant has a Duplicate and/or second account (s), they must disclose it in their account. While the other account (s) will be banned, The Applicant will have immunity and not have any action taken against their main account nor will it disqualify them from the competition. If this is your only account, just type “NO”

- After you list your answers to the above three qualifications, each applicant then is to in 100 words or less write why they feel they deserve a “Clean Slate” for their RealGM Forums Account.

Just in case anyone is confused, here is an example of what your application should look like as if I were filling out one for myself.

“Clean Slate” Sample Application

Username: Howard Mass

- My E-Mail address is Howard.Mass@realgm.com. and it is a valid E-Mail address.

- I have an Appropriate Avatar and Location Line. I do not have a Signature at the moment.

- Howard Mass is my only RealGM Account

Why I deserve a “Clean Slate”

Then, I would type in 100 words or less why I deserve a “Clean Slate”.

No one is getting any pointers though but if the response is even one word over 100, your application is null and void.

I don't necessarily know how i feel about this. On one hand its cool that the mods are giving 1 poster a chance to receive a clean slate on the other hand its also kind of Power tripping when your making a game out of posters user history.

Anyone want to volunteer as Tribute??? lol

Just me?

I think it's a good chance for people who have made numerous small mistakes that add up to start fresh. As far as I know these applications & the GB strike amnesty thing aren't viewable by non-staff members so I don't see an issue with it.

I actually received a ban for discussing wilt chamberlain in a thread about wilt chamberlain on the GB and got it amensty'd a while ago, this kind of thing makes sure someone trigger happy having a bad day can't ruin your record. Still have the link to it actually.

I think it's a good thing as they're basically admitting that some of their Mods are power trippers lol

So this and the amnesty thing give people who care an avenue to get the "infringement" off their "record"

At the end of the day your username is what people reply to - people view you a certain way (and can also be wrong about you but that's a whole other topic) based on all that you've posted before.

To circumvent a ban and create a new account means you lose that history...so again, for those that care this kinda thing is a good idea

Having an avenue for appeal is good. Setting an arbitrary number of 1 makes it a joke. At that point you are just toying with people and getting your jollies by being in control. There could be 100 deserving posters or there could be none. This is essentially just tokenism so we can pat ourselves on the back for being benevolent and righteous moderators.

The entire post reeks of narcissism. Seriously, why the hell do people take forum crap so seriously, as if it's a full-time job.

It's a ****ing online forum, not a arbitrary version of meritocracy or nepotism. I can't even with this forum sometimes it's so goddamn cringey.

I could and1 this a 100 times.

And to clarify my previous post, its setting the arbitrary number of 1 that makes me take a step back.
