This is a big project for Pat salvage. I do not see Pat throwing a lot money at Deng. He may have raised his offer, but will not let Deng or Ariza salary cripple the team.

Seems so weird that Bosh will be "the guy" for us next year.

I actually am in a different way. We aren't contenders but there are a lot of new good players coming in, teams in the West getting stronger, East wide open to an extent now, more exciting teams, our own 1-2 punch with Bosh/Wade. As a basketball fan it will be interesting to see how the next season plays out.

They panicked and gave the max.

Yes, I know, but I was asking if it's too late to ask if he'd be willing to drop a few mil a year, you know for the squad.

haha, Durant just became a Miami fans root for type player aside from the Heat. Lebron just traded city fans, go ahead Cleveland, it is your turn to defend, and make no mistake, regardless of the media, fans will still hate a successful Lebron.

This is probably the only combination of guys that could take a roster of vets and such and make it to the Finals 4 years in a row. Our first championship? We drilled a completely inexperienced team in the Thunder. Second one? We beat a slightly fatigued Spurs team with a few guys who were new to the finals stage..I mean BARELLLLY beat them. The times we lost? Mavericks and Spurs...a team made up of just solid players all around.

Look at it this way, the fact we even won two championships with our roster is amazing. We were terrible at rebounding, we played "who will be the hero tonight" way too much, and face it, we were becoming ancient. There was no way Lebron would have stayed with what the team was heading towards. You can't pay three guys so much money and expect to still have a team around you. We have zero valuable young players, we never have draft picks, and vets can't compete with good talent unless someone spoon feeds them their points.

This time around I am happy Bosh is staying...he can easily give us 20 and 10. Lets not forget old man Wade still averaged over 18 ppg with Lebron around...that will go up also. As for the rest of the roster, we need some youth. I hate when we stack our entire roster with guys in their 30's. Experience is one thing, but the Spurs exposed our age on the defensive side. People were way too slow on rotation and just completely worn out. I would hate to see us give guys in their 30's all our remaining salary. Its ok to want to win right now, but be realistic. In 2 years Wade will be 34, Bosh will be 32.....who is going to want to join that team? We need to groom some young talent. That is all I ask. Doesn't mean make the whole team young, but train someone so we look like an attractive destination in a few years.

But you are right in that we shouldn't throw MAX at players with potential and stats they got from other teams, but that's pretty much the norm these days otherwise we get no one and stuck with Cole/Nappier.

With that said, I would rather go with Cole/Nappier than paying Bledsoe MAX. MAX should be kept for real MAX players and I don't think there are any left this year.

IggieCC, you know what I would REALLY like to see.....our staff reinvent themselves. That would be the equivalent of adding new players, I think we have a chance to be different. The most exciting bball I saw this year was not the LBJ dominate games, it was when the TEAM had balance scoring.......

I absolutely agree. LBJ dominate game is ugly as hell. It's effective because he is good (the best?), but it's not good basketball at all. I guess Spurs is an easy/lame example, but we do need to reinvent ourselves.. and I believe we will by default because we have to play as a team without LeBron. Blessing in disguise.

If I am being honest I always thought that if we won titles with him he would stay here and make this his franchise. Sure, if we didn't win any titles I could easily see him going back but not after 4 straight Finals and 2 titles.

SN: The more and more I think about it the more and more it looks like a business move (marketing opportunities) + the power to run a franchise and then finally a roster with a better outlook than the Heat.

gr8 post, I feel we already have those said players, just need to actually.....give them a real op to play. They don't have to be lottery picks or over hyped. Watching the summer league, I'm not as impressed as I guess I should be with these top picks.....But they'll get a real opportunity to play

eh, i always knew, always, Sonny Carson knew too, we frequently said we knew he's going back but not this year. Really thought he was going to give us two more years and then leave. I could put any amount of money on it.

This shocked me. I felt like choosing between Miami and Cleveland was too difficult. Our city has the flash that someone like Lebron was born for, everything about it. Thats why i kept saying damn, that country boy loves Cleveland that much? Well Ohio -- that he really is leaving prematurely to be there. Yes he does and the clues were all over. We just ignored it. But when he played for us, he gave his ALLLLLL. That i know.
