Is it the consensus that if we concede Ben Simmons, we don't throw any picks in?

"We are fully prepared to let James suffer with one-legged John Wall until he breaks from this silly Brooklyn fantasy."

We'd be foolish to, especially if we don't get a long-term commitment from Harden.

Edit: Part of me thinks Morey may be trying to get assets from Houston in this exchange. Or maybe he would genuinely rather have Ben over Harden.

Unless "young star" actually does mean Caris Levert. The word "star" has lost all meaning, so who knows.

That’s what they should be demanding for Harden. He has 3 years left. No reason for them to come down from that until at least the summer.

It is 2 years + a player option.

Milwaukee traded 3 firsts and two swaps for a marginal upgrade at point guard. Did you want Morey to beat that?

That's why I love the draft. I won't lose all hope until after tomorrow night (unless we draft someone I like for a change).

Goes back to the definition of what a young star is though, doesn't it?

Yeah if he signed that extension that pushed it to 4 or 5 years I’d do it with Ben. But that’s my caveat

Are you sure that's the case? Who is the worst player that Houston would consider a star?

Start by trying to find anything equal, then see if they will add picks.

I heard Kemba, Brown, Tatum referred to as a "BIG THREE" on a podcast today, so yeah.

Read on Twitter

Another BIG THREE

I don't even know wtf these terms mean anymore.

Then you can have a big 3 of Simmons, Harden, Horford.

Instead of having to dump Horford for scraps.

I don’t think it’s thaaaat far fetched. Open the game and floor up big time with horford, Harris, Simmons, Richardson, and harden. Watch Ben and James COOK. Then if James falls off a clif or walks in two years look we still have 3 or more years of Ben, most likely his loyalty for sticking with him, and a max slot or two with horford being not fully guaranteed the last year

Yeah, I actually think this trade, a Harden for Embiid straight swap, would make a ton of sense for both teams. For the Rockets, they get their next great center and fair value back for Harden.

For the Sixers, what I would really like is a “death lineup” of Harden-Milton-Richardson-Harris-Simmons. Horford would likely start at the 5 with Simmons at the 3/4 with Tobias, but small ball would have a lot of potential. Could add a young guard in the draft, too.

Prices have been through the roof. Would have loved Jrue, but that was a huge overpay in picks. Harden's tag is way too high as well. CP3 - same. Let's see what tomorrow holds, and look for value in the Smiths, Ntilikinas, Hields, Porters, etc of the world. Still opportunities to improve the roster, just not with home runs...although I wasn't expecting a home run coming into this. My biggest piece with the current 'core' is you can't have Tobi guarding SFs...get him to the 4, get better shooters at the 2 and 3 and build from there. Ben still can be effective at the point, but Horford has to be your main big off the bench (if he's still here).

If we Dont get harden, what Moves Will morey make?

Get fournier for jrich/scott?

Or Lets get crazy. Utah jazz wont make THE finals anytime soon i think.

Conley and d Mitchel (If we can resign him) for Harris, jrich, Milton, picks (21, 36, 2022 and 2024 first, 2021 2nd and swap 1st)? Maybe it is a longshot, but If we can convince Utah to make this move.....we have a third star which fits timeline of b. Simmons.
And Mitchell can play......we saw this in play-offs against Denver.

Something like:
Conley mle, pick
Mitchell khorkmaz
Thybulle z Smith, pick
Simmons scott, vet min
Embiid horford pelle
