Yeah, usually you see it phrased as the positive, i.e., [Player] has now reached starters criteria so his new QO is XXXXX.

For sure. It’s interesting for the Kings-Bagley saga because I see this as a likely scenario and the Kings will almost certainly throw out the QO if it’s that low.

I guess I just don't see the reservations about the 5/172 deal for Ayton. In the 'bad' case where he doesn't develop further that's still alright spent money, a Harris type deal. Same reasoning I was fine with it for SGA (didn't love it for MPJ who's had serious injury issues).

A big part is just replacement level for centers. They're fairly replaceable, and Ayton came on super strong in the playoffs but wasn't entirely consistent throughout the season if I recall.

How much does New Orleans value Satoransky? What would be the price to send him into the Dallas TPE?

I would be concerned with Ayton looking for his numbers more to secure a big qualifying offer. Didnt he play a more team/simple game to cater to booker/paul last year?

I should think they value him considering how small their other PG's are. I like him, but I wonder if Dallas would be willing to punt on the TPE when right now I think they feel reasonably good about their guard rotation.

I have

    Neil Olshey -- Portland

    Koby Altman -- Cleveland

    David Griffin -- New Orleans

as FO Execs that could be on the hot seat unless their teams show some progress.

As an expiring, Satoransky might not be worth more than a decent second. Since Griffin could be under pressure to perform, he might decide that trading Satoransky for a second is a poor decision because his replacement would be using that second instead of him.

And if he didn't do that they don't make the finals and if they didn't make the finals we wouldn't even be discussing a possible max

Edit: well, maybe not if they didn't make the finals, but certainly not if they didn't make a deep playoff run

I think this is something interesting to look at for this upcoming season.

Generally if it’s a big market team or so I don’t think they have any issues to pay all 4 players given that this is probably CP3 last but contract but I’m not too sure Sarver is willing to pay the max or more accurately how far apart were the discussion between them that ayton might be more on a “me and my stats “ mode this upcoming season.

If it’s pretty close , it would have make sense to just pay it . If it was a bit apart , It all depends on auton maturity , if it’s terribly far 5-10m less per year type , I’m pretty sure he will be quite disruptive to justify that much of a salary that he seeking (close to max I guess )

I had no idea about this. Once a qualifying offer is placed, does that same number become the cap hold of that player?

I'd understand the Pelicans waiting to see how the guard rotation shakes out for sure. In the case where he's at the back of it I'd offer a 2nd a the TPE from Dallas. Less sure about their guard/wing rotation than you feel. Though maybe it is too full if Kidd is planning on using DFS at the SF spot for the majority of his minutes if KPs at the 4.

Like I had guessed, Simmons going with the "you can't prove I'm not trying so pay me to stay away" approach

Except he sucks at it. Not joining the team huddle and having your phone in your sweats pocket certainly makes it pretty easy to know you aren't really trying lol.

He's such an idiot though. If he really wants out this is not the way. He seems convinced he can just make Philly so miserable they will give him away, but they are not going to do that. So he'd be far better off meeting with Doc/Brand/Morey/Harris behind closed doors and saying look I still really want out, but I'm going to be a great teammate, play hard and give you guys some time to find a deal that works for you too. And I'm gonna do my part by being a professional and remind people I'm a great player.

But this is not going to work. They will wait him out.

All I can say is that simmons doesn’t seem to be mature and/or smart.

There’s really no harm to him just showing up and rebuild his value abit . Give the team until the trade deadline to find him a new club and if they still won’t ball , he can always avoid taking threes come playoff then IF Brooklyn is really in top performance then.

Edit : I have a fair bit of appreciation for how Jimmy butler forced his way out of Minnesota out previously now .

I don't think it was his phone, it was his practice jersey according to Stien and that makes more sense when you watch the video

But I disagree, if he plays well Morey is going to keep asking for ridiculous packages from other teams that will not pay his price while Morey hopes he can keep up the facade of actually trying to trade Simmons while his actual goal is to just have Ben playing hard in the playoffs. Did the same thing with Dwight his last year in Houston and Harden hated that dude.

Not trying to dump on Morey but he really does just shrug off relationship stuff and says "good players win". They're not getting a better player than Ben. If he doesn't want to be a sixer this is the move

This is a more than fair read on Morey as a GM .
