That’s such an thing to say. From what Cade has shown so far, I don’t see any way you can say he’s not a guy you can build around. He’s looked great apart from that slow start, which is honestly nbd

My man Bing was getting killed on twitter over this

I'm guessing he doesn't really watch the Pistons much these days (can't blame him) and just heard the "bust" narrative after the first few games. The fact that he said something like "I was worried after the first few games about his shooting..." gives me the impression that he's not super tuned in these day, because I don't think anyone out there thought Cade wouldn't end up a good shooter just because he started poorly, coming off an injury.

He's stabilized into a roughly 14/8/3 stat line since that first month.

The numbers are all really sweet for a rookie so not meant as a knock on him. Just giving some more grounding for whether or not he's 'fallen back.'

He’s dropped 4 ppg but he’s also taking 2 less shots per game cause Siakam is back. I don’t really see that as a fall off. And the only reason his TS has decreased a bit is cause he’s taking a lot more 3s now. Otherwise his efficiency is pretty damn good for a guy who gets most of his baskets unassisted (unlike most of the other rookies)

Well the efficiency last month wasn't good any way you cut it, and it didn't have anything to do with increased 3pt shots, but it's totally fine for a rookie. Overall he's just a few points behind league average and even if he ends up where he's at I don't think there's anything to worry about.

The only thing I'd point to for him is the fact that he's playing gigantic minutes. That's a good thing since he's playing a meaningful role on a non-tanking team, but it also means his raw numbers are inflated relative to other rooks. He's #6 in minutes per game in the entire league--and that's only increasing with time--so he gets a lot more minutes to produce than others do.

The difference in minutes isn’t that big tbh, especially when you consider that Scottie has lower usage% than both Franz and Cade. The per36 stats don’t really suggest much difference either

Because Mobley and Barnes have been better this season. Wagner is balling though and I had him #3 in my updated rookie ladder which I shared back on Saturday.

Also over his last 10 games he is shooting 36.5% from 3, not 40.5% which is still good.

Uhm, no. Check again

This is incorrect. Do the math he is shooting 36.5%

Yes they had better starts but Franz has been close if not better over the past month.

How about you do the math lmao

Last 10 games:
0-1
2-7
0-2
3-6
3-6
4-9
0-0
1-3
2-3
0-0

Total: 15/37 = 40.54%

We got people now out here making up fake stats and denying what NBA.com says to try to make Scottie look bad lol. Kinda sad

as cade's role has grown more, recently he's top 10 in the league for touches. he's only assisted on 18% of his 2 point field goals, which is the lowest i've been able to find for rookie seasons (luka was closest at 19.5%).

so pretty much everything he gets he gets for himself and with grant out he's fully responsible for creating all the team's offense - as a rookie. despite the increase in responsibility/volume his scoring efficiency is going up. people talk about his turnovers being a problem and while he definitely can cut down on them his turnover rate is comparable to other players who handle the ball as much as he does.

if he averages like 21 PPG the rest of the way (which seems likely) then his season-long averages will be ~20/6/5. it's going to be hard not to give ROY to him in that case.

plus, he's shown that he can score against good defenders in iso situations which is impressive for VETS, let alone a rookie:

Anyone bullish on Josh Giddey? I took him for my fantasy team and he really moves like a much smaller man. It's rather jarring lol. Also I'm extremely happy to see Cade hoopin. What's been goin on with Jalen Green?
LeBron's NBA Cup MVP is more valuable than either of KD's Finals MVPs. This is the word of the Lord

helps with rebounds and blocks plus may lead to playing more against backups..but i am glad not magic rookie pushed to that many min..

i like his game, he seems like the perfect kind ogf "glue guy", for lack of a better name. really like the pair of him and SGA long-term.

and unfortunately jalen green has been injured for the last ten games or so, but i think he should be back soon?

with most of the all-in-one stats it's more important to compare them to players in similar roles.

mobley: 8th out of 74 roll + cut bigs
barnes: 26th

sengun: 13th out of 16 post scorers

cunningham: 32nd out of 43 primary ball handlers
giddey: 40th

wagner: 42nd out of 61 stationary shooters

it's obviously not perfect because you have to make judgement calls for a lot of archetypes, even players in the same category could have different factors (starter vs. bench player). example - of the pistons two rookies to play so far garza has a much better LEBRON than cade. i can guarantee you garza has not played better.

Rockets aren't giving a timetable for he or KPJ who's missed the last 3 games, so don't really know how long it'll be
