Yeah, the trenches being so loaded on both sides is what gives me optimism we might finally have that "run-game plus defense" combo to compliment Rodgers and Co. in the passing game. I still worry we won't have enough play-making receiving weapons at WR/TE, at least until the rookies develop more, but if Rodgers wants to be paid like he's the best QB in football, then he's gonna have to do his best Brady impression and start elevating these young guys without the benefit of an All-Pro wideout.

I've been as hard on Rodgers as anyone but once the rookie WRs hit the prevorbial "rookie wall" around week 11-12 I'm gonna find it hard to fault him for a whole lot if there's even a single injury to a pass catcher. Lazard, Cobb and Watkins isn't a trio I'm expecting to be elevated in any case by really anyone much less if they're dinged up (which Cobb assuredly will be). There simply isn't the depth at the playmaking positions to weather really any losses from those guys.

I'm not even saying it's gonna take a lot of injuries. Most teams can't weather that storm. But let either Jones or Dillon go down and this teams postseason chances plummet and more so then any other top team that loses one of its cogs. Like I said they'll still sleepwalk to 12 wins but that's not what I'm talking about

The 2007 & 2011 NY Giants taught us first hand that you can win a Super Bowl if you're really good in the trenches on both sides of the ball, even if you're kind of meh every where else.

Not saying that we're meh everywhere else, but I feel more confident about this Packer team getting to the Super Bowl than I have about Packer teams over the past few seasons that had more flashy weapons. Big games in the NFL are still won in the trenches.

Yes, I finally feel like we're without a glaring weakness. In past years, there was always that one weak link that ruined seasons.

No packer claims and summers was the only former packer claimed.

That list speaks volumes for just how bad that Bears roster is

Leatherwood might be able to contribute, even at a high level, eventually.

Tough cut of Abernathy, but Ford sounds like a top ST guy.

Read on Twitter

For Jaguars head coach Urban Meyer, that’s exactly what Ford had become, not only the team’s most valuable gunner but perhaps the best gunner that he’s ever seen. That much was made clear and has been repeated by Meyer since Aug. this year.

“Some guys at my old schools are going to get very upset with me when I say that, but he’s as good as I’ve ever seen,” Meyer said during the preseason. Given Meyer’s history with special teams throughout his stops in the collegiate ranks, that’s high praise from the team’s leader.

One thing that defensive coordinator Joe Cullen knows about Ford and his abilities on defense, though, is that the fifth-year veteran is fast, very fast. Ford’s 4.34 40-yard dash at his pro day in 2017 certainly showed up on tape.

According to Bill Huber, Abernathy is going to be signed to the last spot on the practice squad.

I’m sorry, but Greg Jennings is kind of a b*tch. He continually threw the Packers organization and his former teammates under the bus for his own profit and glorification. His speech didn’t do much to dispel his infantile behavior. Great player, trash person.

From several sources - this one Packers.com

The Green Bay Packers have signed K Ramiz Ahmed (ruh-MEEZ ah-med) to the practice squad. General Manager Brian Gutekunst announced the transaction Monday.

Ahmed spent part of the 2022 training camp with Green Bay.

Not a surprise. I also won't be surprised if he gets called up during the regular season either. If he does, let's hope he can kick in cold weather.

We don't really need equal value. Getting out his contract and adding a solid #2 established receiver is all we need. Would rather trade his contract now for some WR depth than deal with losing Dillon, who is already better than him, in FA. Dillon is going to be the Ron Dayne of the NFL for the next 5 years.

Ron Dayne averaged 3.8 yards a carry and never got more than 773 yards in a season. I have to assume you're trolling.

Aaron Jones is likely gone after this season unless he takes a massive restructure, they won't take a 20 million cap hit next year for a RB so you'll likely get your wish with Dillon becoming RB1 next year
Coach Drew: "Milwaukee has always been a team that I have been intrigued by. When we played them, they were a tough team for us to play. Although we did beat them all four times"

Well Hopefully Dillion doesnt only have big games vs the Lions and Bears. Then he really would be the NFL Ron Dayne.
