Nets are going after the wrong franchise player.... assuming Melo is set to play for Knicks.

Why couldnt they chase Chris Paul instead?.... Hornets will listen surely with the draft picks and all

Paul would probably be inclined to join the Knicks aswell when his contract expires, if this trade falls through.

picks to nuggets
2nd round to detroit
possibly some kind of protected pick from nuggets to portland? (not sure on their thoughts of harris for miller/batum)

denver keeps billups so the nets don't have to buy him out or anything, and billups doesn't have to leave his hometown.
nets take harrington. probably compete for lower seed this year, then can make some moves and take a run at cp3 or whatever their goals are once they have melo.

Nice trade. You should send it to Denver's FO

Yes, then you can mention the part where he goes to the Lakers and Howard join OKC. And ESPN adds 4 channels each one dedicated to non-stop coverage of the Heat, Lakers, Knicks, and Thunder.

Do you have a rational argument to back that up with, or are you just sticking with the (Please Use More Appropriate Word) insult?

If Melo's already on the fence about signing an extension with NJ, Denver would do well to get the trade off as soon as possible. What if New Jersey has a couple more blowout losses or Brook Lopez blows out his knee while Denver waits to potentially pick up a couple ping-pong balls? If Melo decides he's not extending with NJ, the deal is off and the Nuggets will get stuck with a far worse one.

Strong fresh sign Nets/Nuggets still working toward Melo deal: I'm told Nuggets took/made calls TUES on what they can get for Devin Harris

STEIN_LINE_HQ Marc Stein
At worst Nuggets want to know Devin Harris' value before agreeing to trade. Some would say Nuggets operating like they EXPECT to get Harris

STEIN_LINE_HQ Marc Stein
RT @AndrewLiv: @STEIN_LINE_HQ But question remains: Will Melo sign extension in Jersey? Does anyone have a definite answer? (SEE NEXT TWEET)

Thought since DEN/NJ got close on four-team deal in SEPT that first step is a fully agreed-to-trade. Only THEN will we get real Melo answer

The thing that i dont get is why Carmelo is receiving absolutely no hate from the fans or the media after he requested a trade and is persistent on it to the point that he is talking behind his team's back, gave up on the city, and already has a foot out the door WHILE he is under contract. His team is a great well rounded team i dont understand why he would want to go to New Jersey of all places. IMO the shaningans that Carmelo is putting on is as bad or maybe worse than LBJ's. At least Lebron played out his contract and tried to lead his team to a championship.

^^ I think "The Decision" has a lot to do with the hate...

Because he didn't make it a sideshow with the Decision, have the Cavs hire a coach who sucks because they thought he would bring LeBron back and the fact that LBJ had this in the works since last year when Carmelo this year was just like... "F-it, I'm done, I can't breath out here." Plus, he's kept his mouth shut unlike James. People will get over it next year about LBJ, it's just this season, everyone wants to see them fail.

He is, the Denver crowd booed him off the court after his 8 pt. performance. Melo like LeBron wants to be in a situation where he can win which is why he has yet to sign that extension to NJ.

melo doesn't have the national starpower and espn backing that bron does. and denver fans are pretty fed up with him. i bet he gets booed tonight....again.

Batum and Afflalo will be a deadly defensive duo for Denver in the future ... back courts in the west will be locked down for years to come lol.

I wonder if Melo has another terrible outing tonight.

Not really. At this point everyone is well aware of the trade talks. We know the names of all the major players involved in any potential trade. It's futile at this point for Denver to swoop in and tell New Jersey "hush" when they've done just as much if not MORE talking to the media than the other two teams involved in NJ and DET.

Really? How do you know that?

How do I know what, the names of the major players being traded? BECAUSE IT'S ALL OVER THE DAMN INTERNET. LOL. How do I know that Denver has done as much if not more talking than NJ or DET? Because despite Denver telling New Jersey to hush all they've done is talk, talk, talk about "Blake Griffin this and Nicolas Batum that and what can we get for Devin Harris etc...".

Kind of hard to put the cat back in the bag once it's already out.

Wow i didn't know that Melo was booed last night does anyone have any clips.

I agree what you guys said with the media and Lebron's ego blowing his figure into an unlikable individual, I understand that Lebron's actions ie the decision, ESPN love make him the enemy but if Lebron is put on this pedestal why can't Melo who is quitting on his team in the REGULAR season. Im trying to get the point across that Melo the basketball player should be criticized and I'm happy the boo birds have begun because his actions of quitting are worse than anything that can be done through the media. A quitter is worse than a egoistical individual like LBJ.
