At what point will people admit this isn't worth it?

I suppose he could have came out on TV or publicly and literally said " I will never go to NJ" - but do you really expect that? He's made it pretty damn clear he wants to come to NY, and i'm pretty sure he's probably made it very clear behind closed doors that he has no interest in NJ.... Hence the multiple deals that have come close with the nets have suddenly fallen through.... and why every article ends with " contingent upon Melo's approval" ... the only thing he hasn't done is come out in public and basically cut denver throat for us by saying he wouldn't ever every go to NJ, which for all he knows, is a complete lie.. why wouldn't he think about going there if he was given the right deal? Again, letting your belief that he is obsessed for playing with the Knicks get in the way of reality... and are blaming him for not cutting throats to come here, but doing just about everything short of that.

Absolutely. Man is a snake. But Dolan's a stooge.

exactly, he never dismissed the nets and never formally said he wanted out of denver.... he played us as well, except he will come here , get his money, while gutting the team.. a the end of the day, he can say the knicks never got he and amare the talent to win, as walsh gets fired, dantoni gets fired and he will be sitting on an island with his wife, sipping corona's...... collecting his fat checks!

Yikes!

Again, anyone who is opposed to this proposed deal, what is the alternative? We act as if we are giving away a ton of amazing talent. This is a .500 basketball team, period. Chandler won't be here after this year. Curry is Curry. The Felton/Billups swap is a wash. Basically we are giving up Randolph (for the 1st) and Gallo...I mean really? This is Carmelo Anthony! So what if he wanted his money...he wanted his money in NY not NJ, otherwise he'd have been a Net by now with his money. What would the alternative be? Just keep "building" with this .500 team as A'mare gets older? This is a stars league...every championship team in recent memory has had two stars except Detroit. I just fail to see how this makes us a worse team in the long run...we still have young talent and cap room if we don't take back long contracts. Someone tell me the alternative? You can't risk waiting because if we wait and the Nets grab him, then what? We go into another year of hoping for Paul, Williams, etc? Get Melo now and build around two super duper stars.

So right now our only real asset is Fields .....do we have any picks left? geez
Why can't we just run this organization the right way instead of caving into the rabid fans+ stephen a smith..

I called it all along

Dolan is being controlled by Isiah as we speak

Him negotiating with Denver?

Is this the twilight zone?

Only this organization.

He allowed his people to bring the Nets back into it. He could have kept his mouth shut with all that extension talk.

Yes, I am blaming him for not cutting throats

They can figure out what to do with Melo. It's a final offer in my mind, course I'm not making the decision.

But, I will make another prediction: Dolan will not give up Fields and Gallo. I bet you he says no and walks away.

That's my prediction. Other than maybe adding a draft pick, I bet the offer we gave is the one we will walk away with or they will accept.

Also...how is the team "gutted?" In the long term, the only guy we give up of any long term value is Gallo, that's it. What's gutted?? Felton and Billups are a wash, Chandler is gone anyway as an RFA. Would you guys want to pay Chandler? He's just like David Lee in that we knew he'd be gone, so what's the big deal?

Realistically, he wants the extension more than he wants the knicks, or atleast acts that way to get us to up our offer. He can likely force Denver to accept as lesser offer from us by rejecting the Nets deal, but if he does that while we only offer Chandler, then he loses out because denver will just let him walk.

Truth of the matter is, if we were planning on going after CP3/Derron Williams in free agency Gallo is too expensive to keep. Both players will be easier to trade for if we get melo because a.) there will be no changing cba to give their teams more leverege and b.) w/ 2 superstars we'll be the place.

I can easily live with a line-up of

C: TMozgov, RTurriaf
PF: AStoudamire
SF: CAnthony, SWilliams
SG: LFields, BWalker
PG: CBillups, TDouglass

And we'll have our first round pick and if the mle still exist, we can likely add another decent vet

Its amazing how radical the board swings based off one tweet from someone who has time and again shown that they know little to nothing.

False. He is a playmaker like Amare is a playmaker

False again. He is a sneaky playmaker. I've watched his last few games. He's bought the ball up numerous times and made good decisions and some nice passes. I think he can average 4-5 assist in this system.

Another thing people seem to forget is our players have been playing in this system that accentuate their numbers.......well my god what happens when Melo get's in this system. I have no doubt his efficiency improves and his numbers skyrocket kinda like a 12 ppg point guard from Charlotte.

A source close to Anthony said the forward has never shown much, if any, interest privately in joining the Nets.
