Personally, if I were in the Wizards shoes I'd take Zeller or Len and continue adding to the young core. They could (and should) be a playoff team next season. Just keep adding young core pieces around the same age.
But I don't know the situation over there in Washington. If they have a mandate to win as many games as possible next season in an effort to appease Wall, then I don't think they could get a better player than Ilyasova with that pick. I think he adds five wins to that team and would look outstanding with Wall getting him the ball on pick and rolls and kick outs.
I agree that Ersan would fit in very well with Wall and make the team better.
It's a very hard situation to gauge here. But people are resigned to the fact that the Wizards will max him or come close. In theory they could extend him in July when he is eligible before the season starts, and still do what they deem is best for the long-term future of the franchise.
If you're them, any frontcourt selection could be justified.
I haven't read this thread, is there a specific player we would eye at #3 that reports seem to point to us liking?

Not that I know of. My worry would be Burke. I think he'll be an average starting PG in the NBA. That's an improvement from what we have now, but I like Len, Zeller, Noel, Mclemore, MCW and Bennett more.

Grunfeld has a long and sordid history of making exactly this kind of trade. The fans and media have every right to be skeptical of him going down that path again.
But there is also certainly cause to believe that Ersan would be such a good fit with the Wizards that they would pursue him nonetheless.
Ilysaova would compliment Wall fantastically, and this rumor was first given realgm legs after Wall's comments about wanting a player exactly like him.
More broadly, the NBA is gearing increasingly towards stretch 4's just like Ersan, which is the biggest reason I would take any pause on this trade as a Bucks fan.
Such a pity this all appears to be academic at this point...

Sure, but if the Bucks moved Ersan they all of the sudden have an opening for a stretch four.

Zeller isn't a stretch 4 though.
I do have a lot of interest in Zeller though simply because I think he can become a dependable post scorer, and I think that's a niche that every team should try to fill. It takes a lot of pressure off the guards if you have a big man that you can just give the ball to when you need a basket and let him make something happen.

I actually like Zeller a lot, we just don't need him. I like Henson better.

I'd probably agree with that too, but I think there's plenty of minutes to distribute between 3 good bigs and an extra depth guy, so Zeller can still be a good piece for us moving forwards.

Zeller is a long ways away from being a useful NBA player. He was rendered useless against any PF/C with strength last year, almost none of which will be playing in the NBA next year.
He can't sprint down the court and get post up position on 6'8" 200 lb "centers" anymore.

He wasn't at Indiana, no. But he's switching positions in the NBA, moving to PF.
Zeller, however, decided to enter the draft and he has spent the past month in Santa Monica doing what scouts have asked -- he's honing his jump shot and ballhandling skills to make the leap from center to forward.
Zeller, for his part, claims that he has always had these skills. As a high school player, he regularly played on the perimeter and took 3s. He said he made three 3-pointers during one game his senior season. However, at Indiana, head coach Tom Crean wanted Zeller in the post and that's where he stayed. As a freshman he took just 27 percent of his shots outside the basket area. As a sophomore he upped it slightly to 34 percent.
What makes him think he can do it differently now?
Zeller told us at the NBA draft combine we'd be surprised by his shooting and he backed up that claim Thursday. I tracked his NBA 3-point shots and he shot 72 percent for the workout. That's terrific, especially for a 7-footer. His midrange jumper was even better. Zeller showed the ability to shoot off the bounce and with his feet set. He was especially effective in the corners, where he shot 80 percent from the field for the day.
Combine that small sample with other known qualities of Zeller -- he's the fastest big man in the draft (both laterally and in sprints), has the highest standing vertical (35.5 inches) of any player 6-foot-9 or taller in our database, great hands and a high basketball IQ -- and the question is: Did Zeller go from being overrated to underrated?
Some scouts think so. Several scouts compare him to a young Chris Bosh. A few others to LaMarcus Aldridge. They are both interesting comparisons -- rail-thin college centers who made the transition to power forward in the pros.
But all three players are fluid athletes who are more comfortable on the perimeter. We didn't see that much from Zeller in college, but from what I saw at the workout, it was more than just a gimmick. He looked truly comfortable on the perimeter -- more so than he ever looked in the post in college. And he certainly has the foot speed to guard quick 4s.
If Bosh and Aldridge are legit comparisons, we have Zeller too low on our Big Board.

We'll see. He struggled to shoot the ball in college from everything I saw of him. I like him as a PF prospect though. He seems athletic enough to hang with PFs while his struggles with length won't be as big of an issue at PF.
And I think he has a lot of potential in the pick and roll game.

So kind of like Bogut against Al Harrington

Talked with someone with pretty good knowledge of both organizations recently. Kind of what i expected which is dont get your hopes up.
Said they (wiz) heard about the ilyasova rumor, but have no idea where it came from. They might be interested in dealing back but not that far. 5-6 picks at most, and that's only if Porter is not there. They are locked in on him for a multitude of reasons. They really like their front court as is, and are committed to rebuilding with youth.
Also, I loled pretty hard when he told me that if there was any substance to the rumor he'd do everything in his power to talk them out of it. Not a big Ersan fan.

I think we would be lucky to get Ariza/Seraphin/Vesely/pick 38 for Ersan/LRMAM
Not even Ernie is likely dumb enough to do 3 for Ersan and a few other role players.
If the Bucks can't even do better than resigning Dunleavy (which I think is likely) that deal makes sense.
I don't think Korver, Budinger or anyone better than Ariza is coming. Gonna have to overpay some guards big time already.

I wouldn't characterize that as lucky, I'd be semi interested in Seraphin as a 5th big, Vesely probably won't see his option picked up, Ariza is an expiring that shouldn't see the court and you can buy #38 or in that range for 1m. That would be a joke of a trade.

Yeah Ersan for Ariza and a mid 2nd round pick would be a pretty bad trade for us.
