I am looking around the league and I have found some players that can be great replacements for Bledsoe....
Jrue Holliday, one year younger, bigger but less explosive and a very good defender too. $11M per year.
Reggie Jackson, one year younger, good size, he is entering his last year on rookie's contract. Can be an steal because he has potential to be even a better player than Bledsoe , just my opinion. Hard hard worker and healthy.
Kemba Walker, one year younger, smaller and worse defender. Great scorer, he is entering his last year on rookie's contract too.
Brandon Knight, one year younger too and in the same contract's situation than Kemba and Reggie. Bad court vision, but excellent going to the hole and in transition. Decent defender and progressing.
Some other real options out there?
The most likely candidate to replace Bledsoe as a player (not as an asset) is George Hill, IND. He has been stuck in the wrong system in Indiana. His defense is close to or equivalent to Bledsoe. Offensively he can produce 80% of Bledsoe's numbers in the Suns system.
What makes him most likely is a) the Pacers and Larry Bird are open to change following the Paul George injury and b) he posses the skill set needed to run a two point guard offense with his ability to play off the 1 and shoot the 3 at a high level.
Secondarily, he is locked up at $8 million for three years, a reasonable salary matched against the impending Dragic contract following any trade of Bledsoe (and I'm guessing you could pull Mahinmi in the deal, a shot blocker who can help to stabilize the front line).
This trade scenario is based on the belief that in a Bledsoe sign and trade the Suns cannot add an asset (player or pick or money) in order to supplement the offer. According the Larry Coon, in multi-team trades any one team must "touch" two teams in the transaction. Ipso facto (always wanted to use that), any S&T cannot be a three+ team deal. Please tell me that is wrong.
The trade is not great value in term of assets but nothing we get in this scenario will be.
P.S. IT is the perfect 6th man as a spark off the bench due to both his offensive skills and defensive deficiencies. Want to keep him there.
