Re: Bucks Media Thread (Discussion of Bucks & Sports Media) TNT to license Inside to ESPN/ABC
I think it does become a much bigger issue when the host(s) is affiliated or employed with the team in some way. I'm not a big Justin Garcia fan, but that's also partly because it's clear he can't really give full-throated takes and analysis since he has to avoid being hyper-critical of the organization. Justin/Camille put in the work, but they have zero charisma together and it's often a slog to get through anything that isn't a game recap. Think they just need to bite the bullet and get a fresh new duo in there.

Spot on with all points above.
The challenge is finding the talent and with the time. I say that after just listening to not one, but two Locked on Lakers emergency pods to analyze their trade from yesterday. The LA market third tier people are miles ahead of our tier one.

Re: Bucks Media Thread (Discussion of Bucks & Sports Media) TNT to license Inside to ESPN/ABC
I think LOB is clearly hiding who's on episodes because it's Frank or bust for a lot of folks. For a while they'd excitedly mention Frank when he was on, but not name names when he wasn't. I think they've recently figured out people were just screening based on that. Rough.
Justin would be solid if he wasn't limited by his existing relationship to the team, but Camille is still wooden on the mic, and her and Justin have very little chemistry. I actually think you can feel the general awkwardness with Frank too - as even when he's on there's little banter, and his contributions are mostly monologues.

Nothing against Camille — I'm sure she's a great person. But there's just nothing there in terms of observations, insights, analysis. How exactly is she qualified to be host, and furthermore, why does it seem like she's a desired commodity for other Milwaukee sports podcasts? I don't understand it at all.

Steve Novak or Chapt GPT/AI, who ya got? Dire menu choices, I agree, but look deep pon the crevices of your soul and answer what lies within you.

Chat GPT. Easily.
I'd take silence over both, though.

Zach Lowe lands at the Ringer. I think this was expected and my guess is he had a severance/contract agreement that prevented him from joining earlier.

Wonder if he can still get an analyst role at either Amazon or NBC. Was hoping he would be on one of their pregame shows.paulpressey25 wrote:Zach Lowe lands at the Ringer. I think this was expected and my guess is he had a severance/contract agreement that prevented him from joining earlier.

Re: Bucks Media Thread (Discussion of Bucks & Sports Media) Zach Lowe to the Ringer
Is LOB using AI to write their podcast blurbs? I clicked on the most recent one on a whim and it's just so goofy. The last couple of sentences in particular read like an overdone 8th grade persuasive essay, and it's in a way I've come to associate with AI output.
Can the Milwaukee Bucks maintain their momentum after a historic shooting night? The Bucks stunned the Phoenix Suns with a record-breaking 69% shooting performance, the highest in an NBA game since the Clippers' feat 27 years ago. Ryan Rollins emerged as a key player, scoring a career-high 23 points, while Giannis Antetokounmpo continued to dominate on the court. The episode explores the Bucks' offensive rebounding struggles and the impact of former coach Mike Budenholzer's return to Milwaukee. With insights from Justin Garcia and Frank Madden, listeners will gain a deeper understanding of the Bucks' evolving strategy and the challenges they face. Don't miss this engaging analysis of the Milwaukee Bucks' path to success and the pivotal role of their star players.

Haha. I definitely get it. Not the most riveting duo. MJ tells some great stories though. They barely talk, you should check it out.

Think we’re starting to see the beginning of the end of the Athletic. I give them credit for spending a ton of money to bring a good product. But how you monetize it remains to be seen.

I've been on a $12/year subscription for awhile. Each year I cancel before they renew me at $59.95 or whatever their current price is. And they always come back with the $12 offer. Last time it was $1 a month instead of $12 for the year. Weird. And they stopped charging the $1 after 5 months.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Bucks media adjacent. TNT chosing to not re up Haynes and then use his reporting multiple times during the broadcast was interesting.
I get that TNT was in no mans land this year, but these news breakers are becoming less and less valuable to the media partners.
