Murray would be such a smooth get. Hope we can beat the Hawks offer. Spurs and Heat have always had a great respect for each other.

I couldn't imagine making the type of money these players make for playing a game 99.9% of the world plays for fun and being fussy over "its not the highest dollar amount possible, do you not respect me?" Kinda sounds like a child that never grew up to me.

If I was in the NBA and I was good people would think I'm crazy. I'm the type of guy that would opt out and take the mle somewhere just to prove my point. With that many mills in my bank account I'd be so well invested and diversified that any contract I earn is just cherry on the icing. But then again I wouldn't be buying a mansion let alone multiple with 20 cars for each house and rolexes for everyone. These guys are horrible with their money.

May come down to our willingness to include Herro. Do you do it for a 25 year old all star who’s an elite defender and just averaged 21.5-8.5-9.5-2

What happens to Lowry?

If he wants to sign with Philly for 3/30 so be it. 3 for 27 is already more than I would personally want to give to a 37 year old D and occasional 3 guy. Im sure him walking will piss of the wing of this fanbase that looks for anything to blame the FO but we cant get crazy in negotiations here.

So 1 mil more a year is crazy negotiations? Just pay the man and lets deal with other holes in our roster. This is not someone asking 30 mil a year, just 1 million more. We saw his true value in the playoffs, we would be foolish to lose him for just 1 million more per year. This is why we have the perception of being cheap, right or wrong this is why people bring that up.

Lowry stays. Comes off the bench or we have a serious talk to Herro and extend him and tell him one more year of coming off the bench until they deal’s Lowry expiring. Or Lowry says he’s fine coming off the bench. This only works if Murray and Herro are here together to lock up the back court for years to come. I don’t think the Spurs are interested in any particular players coming back. They want the 3 first and a chance at the 1st pick next year. I would say they would probably be thrilled with Vincent and picks. Problem is finding a third team for Duncan’s matching salary.

Spurs have a ton of guards, can’t really see them wanting Herro.

Wonder what the deal would be.

Duncan, Jovic, Yurt, and 3 picks? Is that enough?

BIG time Murray fan

They don't make moves to create that access(which they have worked out but haven't triggered yet) until they know they need to... which means getting an agreement first.

Lowry needs to be coming off the bench, like Tucker, to preserve them for the playoffs anyways. Guys like that have to be saved from themselves with how physical they are at an old age

Murray may be an awkward fit but the dude is damn good all around. He rebounds at an elite level for a guard. He’s an elite passer. Elite defender. Very solid scorer. He did shoot 35% on catch and shoot 3s so not great but not terrible too. If Jimmy cares about shooting 3s next season it could work. I think we need high volume shooters next to them though. Strus and Barnes or something. Hell even Bamba. Just tell whoever the 4 is they have the green light.

I'll def get myself excited about it if it happens, but all I can think about is being in a playoff setting with Murray, Butler and Bam on the court together and the opposition going under every single screen and sinking deeper and deeper into the paint and us finding ZERO space to even move around inside the 3 point line (much less get good shots off).

Even if Jimmy is hitting occasional 3s, he's still not spacing the floor in earnest. The same can be said for Murray.

We have to hope those guys continue to work on their shots and we need 2 elite shooters next to them at the 2 and 4. We can make it work but we have to be smart about it

I like Murray but no way im doing 3 1st round picks + Herro. That's insane. Its one or the other. The picks + salary or Herro + Salary

We literally can't go higher and still afford ourselves an opportunity to "deal with other holes in our roster". The only way to go higher is to hard cap ourselves. Bye Dipo. Bye Caleb. Bye anyone that is not a trade bringing in same or less salary.

They would want Herro, but then they would trade him to another team to get more assets.

Math isnt my strong suit either but the figures I posted were 30 and 27 so where are you getting this 1 million number from? This is the wing of the fanbase im talking about, those that are bitter about something that happened 6 years ago. We cant simply just pay everybody. IF, and ill say that again, IF philly is able to create the space to offer Tucker a 3 year deal worth 30 million, we would have to use the MLE to exceed that offer, which would hard cap the team and essentially eliminate the possibility of any other impact signing. There are serious implications here its not as simple as JuSt PaY THe mAn.
