3 team deal with Nets and Jazz

Dadiet and McBride and all those picks get traded to in some form to Nets and Jazz for Kessler and Bridges while satisfying the cap rules of the CBA to minimize our restrictions against the 1st or 2nd Apron.

Kessler (32), Mitch (16)
Randle (30), Bridges (5), OG(5), Hart (8)
OG(25), Bridges (12), Hart (11)
Bridges(15), DDV(25), Hart(8)
Brunson (32), Mclaughlin or Lowry (10), Kolek (6)

Deuce, Dadiet and picks for Kessler? :o

Nah I'm good.

no he is saying those picks meaning the mikal trade just expanding it to 3 teams

Gotcha.

I wouldn't do it but I would understand if Leon did it.

how would duece not warrant a first round pick? There is no one in the late first round you can get even close to Duece impact...he was an impactful playoff performer on that contract...3 years from now he will be making less then 4 MM and he is rotational piece on a playoff team. Especially with the aprons...cheap controllable contracts are even more valuable then they ever have been.

He easily is worth a 1st round pick value...its not even debatable.

Yes I am. As much as Sims is a struggle sometimes. Kessler is a rotation level rim running big. He’s not bringing a skill or talent that puts him automatically above Sims on the depth chart.

Dude he allowed the lowest FG% at the rim in the NBA. Kessler is a starting caliber center with his rim protection.

Sims is a fringe rotation player overseas.

I'm desperate to not see Jericho Sims minutes on a team contending for a championship.

If you trade that kid what else is there to trade beside a key rotational piece if we need to pivot. This is like when people kept saying Deuce and Bojan need to go out to get Mikal. You got to hold onto something for a rainy day and future trades.

If you also got some kind of verbal from Lowry. What raining day would you need. Your core would be locked into the next few years and Knicks would go 9 deep.

Cool, let him come here and earn his minutes and fit into the defense & offense to get his minutes. Kessler is not such a known quantity that he shouldn’t be considered another rotation big. Which also is why the Knicks shouldn’t burn every asset for him.

Lowry is cooked. That is a whole other discussion but the Knicks can do better. Also injuries and other unforeseen issues happen. The Knicks have very few future assets coming there way and will be under the 1st or 2nd apron for the next 3-5 years. You can’t just trade a known rotation piece and a potential rotation piece for one rotation piece, who might end up as the 3rd center in their center rotation.

I am not saying don’t trade for Kessler, but if Ainge wants Dadiet & McBride…. walk away from the table.

They could spoil alot of great work they've done over the past two years with missing one key piece when your coach's whole defensive philosophy is anchored on that aspect. I'm not doubting they can but I'm not assuming they will, just do it right.

That was a year in and still had division in parts of the FO.

Rose was in charge and chose to resign Noel/Burks then a year later chose to sign Kemba/Baguette....stop making excuses.

You ever think maybe a guy new at his job needs an adjustment period? Since then he has built up his FO staff with knowledgeable people, got rid of Perry, and learned from past mistakes. Has there been a wrong move on the last 2 years?

1) Deuce + WAS 1st for Kessler Run
2) Trade Burks via S&T in Mikal trade to a 3rd team
3) Re-sign Precious via Bird Rights 2 years $10m per, 2nd year team option
4) Sign McLaughlin or Lowry via exception, 2 years @ $5m per
5) Sign Diadet, Kolek, Hukporti, McCullar Jr. as end of bench guys

Mitch / Kessler / Hukporti
Randle / Precious / Diadet
OG / Hart / McCullar Jr.
Mikal / DDV
Brunson / McLaughlin / Kolek

I'll give the FO the benefit of the doubt if they trade for him or Richards that either one is a rotational player that is better than Sims. Hukporti looks better than Sims in his videos. :lol:

This is no time to worry about including picks. We are all in and picks can be made up in the future. Get it done now and let's make a run.

Absolutely not when you recognize the importance of rim protecting in Thibs system.

Our current trade assets:

-> All the players we just drafted but haven't signed yet
-> McBride
-> Future WAS 1st (protected)
-> Future DET 1st (protected)
-> Future even year pick swaps (except 2028)
-> Half a dozen+ future 2nd rounders
-> Rights to Rokas
-> Unlimited cash
-> And, of course, our core players (Nova boys, Mikal, OG, Randle, Mitch, etc.)... all of whom are worth loads of picks

We're in "win now" mode for the next 4-5 years, at least... so everything and anything is on the table for the right upgrade. We went from 2nd place in the Fanduel rankings to like 7th after we lost iHart. Let's get that back to 1st or 2nd with some smart moves.

It is, because I said this before to another post. We do not have the assets nor the ability to acquire future assets to use the only two non key rotational players on the roster go in the same trade for a player who has to come here and show that he is a better than Sims.

The FO should look at this as an either Dadiet or McBride or draft picks (via sending McBride to the Nets) trade situation.

Kessler (32), Mitch (16)
Randle (30), Bridges (5), OG(5), Hart (8)
OG(25), Bridges (12), Hart (11)
Bridges(15), DDV(25), Hart(8)
Brunson (32), Mclaughlin or Lowry (10), Kolek (6)

Thibs system near ideal 'dream team'

-2 elite rim protectors
-A bully PF that commands double and triple teams
-3 absolute elite defensive wings in OG, Bridges and Hart
-4 guys capable of spacing with 40% or near 40% 3 ball potential (OG, Bridges, Brunson, DDV)
- Strong rebounders at positions 2 to 5
- High IQ players for defensive switching and less mismatches during switch offs in a possession

If the Jazz loved Dediet that much we can just do a 1 for 1 with him and Kessler. Or we could have done this trade on draft night.

Dediet for Kessler makes a ton of sense for both teams. Utah gets an extra 2 years of rookie control and higher upside. The Knicks fill a need with a higher floor/lower ceiling piece that can contribute right away.

But this feels like it would have happened on draft night if it were to happen.

Most these assets outside of McBride or Kessler are not going to mean squat if they have to pivot and these are essentially our assets for the next 2 seasons unless we can develop the 2nd rounders we just took to show they have value.

I am for getting Kessler but you got to be smart with it.

Don't think we can get him, but Sando Mamukelashvili seems like a guy.
Spurs have him as an RFA, I wonder if we can dip into MLE money to do something like Rokas, cash, and the draft rights to their summer coach for Sandro + SRP

https://www.poundingtherock.com/2024/6/29/24189092/san-antonio-spurs-tender-qualifying-offers-to-sandro-mamukelashvili-and-david-duke-jr-free-agency

In the last leg of the NBA season, the San Antonio Spurs gave their younger, end of the bench players a chance to play big minutes. No player benefitted more from that stretch of playing time than Sandro Mamukelashvili. In April, Mamu averaged 11.6 points and 9.7 rebounds while shooting 38.5% from deep. On Saturday, the Spurs made the first step toward bringing him back in free agency.

I think the Detroit pick is the best asset we have remaining. Or swap in 2026 doesn't hold much value and I hate the idea of giving up another unprotected future draft asset (2030 swap) unless it results in getting an upgrade from Randle to team with Brunson (unlikely). I doubt that the Washington pick ends up conveying, but I think it's 50-50 that the DET 1st conveys in 2027 when it's top-9 protected and they should be a team on the rise.
