KnicksGod wrote:He is saying that the trade won't happen this week, but won't elaborate on why, and who wouldn't want to play in NY.

I actually don't read those comments as him leaning toward signing in NJ.

I think one reasonable way to view his comments is that he wants the Knicks to act before the deadline.

Or that he thinks Gallo has to be cleared for the Knicks to finish brokering a deal :-? ...I'm just speculating...not treating that as factual.

Thing is, where has it been written that the Knicks don't want Melo?

95% of the stuff that's been written is that the Nuggets don't want the Knicks' assets. Melo is not stupid -- he's read that.

He's being coy. Or maybe the Nuggets are feeding him false information.

He knows the Knicks want him...what he also knows is that there is no way Walsh is giving into Denver and giving up a king's ransom. So what I get is Melo wants to NY but he also wants that guarenteed 83 mill before the CBA so he is willing to head to NJ.

Thats my take.

Yep I agree.

Yes I felt that was an obvious lie to the media. Question is why lie about it? I think it's to avoid trouble for the Knicks organization pursuing Melo under the table. It's a clear lie.

IMO, Melo is just being PC right now, He can't anything about going to NY, because that could be implying that NYKnicks are tampering with him and visa versa, He also realizes the effect this is having on his teammates and doesn't this want this situation to be anymore of a distraction that it's been already.

I say wait to hear what he has to say after the meeting with Denver F.O. and see what happens next.

Carmelo knows the Knicks want him. He was referring to stories he's read. Obv Knicks prefer he wait until FA so roster isn't blown up.

the biggest thing is that Melo is gonna meet with the DEN FO soon.

so that pretty much guarantees that an ultimatum of sorts from either side will be made

melo: i'm not going to nj if you gut that team
den: we're not trading you if we dont get favors + picks back
melo: im not signing an extension if i cant play next to harris

or
melo: i only want to go to ny.

Knick fans gave him an ovation at the garden for crying out loud. Even if Nuggets fed him false information, how gullable would you have to be to believe it. Also we missing something important here. He says we are doing GOOD right now.I don't think he can say that for the Nets. Doesn't he want to play for a GOOD team?

Hahn agrees with what I said: I think Melo's comments could be interpreted as saying that he is ready to go to free agency if need be.

Melo was asked flat out if he wants to go to New York: "I've here... Until something happens, I'm a Denver Nugget.''

How do you interpret that? Good or Bad?

Has anyone figured out how much money Carmelo is actually "leaving on the table" if he signs with us for a max 5-year contract vs. the 3-year extension? And not Woj's "HE'S LOSING 100000 MILLION BILLION DOLLARZ!" - like, an actual comparison.

And Carmelo merch sales would go through the roof if he comes here.

I dont think Carmelo and Amare communicate as much as we think they do.

The naswer is no one knows because of the CBA...

It could be 40-60 mill or 5mill, no one knows.
