Source: Orlando Magic likely to name GM by end of the week; new GM to make Dwight decision. http://wp.me/p1GPHW-IuA source close to the decision making process within the Orlando Magic organization has informed me that the team is close, and likely to name their new General Manager by the end of the week. Many names have surfaced as potential candidates with many of them set to be interviewed in the next few days. Jeff Bower, Spurs Assistant GM Dennis Lindsey, Thunder Assistant GM Rob Hennigan, Kevin Pritchard, Mitch Kupchak and Donnie Walsh have all been rumored to be potential candidates.
More importantly, my source has also said that the new GM will make the decision on Dwight. Meaning that if Dwight isn’t ready to commit long term, that the new GM will have the authority to either trade Howard or to move forward with one more year of the what-if’s. This initially seems to be contrary to the DeVos and Alex Martins previous iterations of decision-making authority, but it may be a strong piece in recruiting a powerful GM into the organization.
Obviously this is subject to change pending how the interviews go, but regardless the team should have a clearer path forward heading into the next week.

Then again our bench was bailing us out all series, so it makes sense.
Maybe this is the stuff that Stan was considering when he'd defend Duhon?

Looks like our new GM wont come from Thunder or Spurs. It will be Jeff Bower, Kevin Pritchard, Mitch Kupchak or Donnie Walsh.
Josh Robbins @JoshuaBRobbins
The #Magic have waived Von Wafer. Not a surprise. The final 2 years of his contract were unguaranteed.

I would agree. It must be someone they trust enough to make that decision. CrazyVGOSWAMI wrote:MagicBBallOnline @MagicBasketball

rcklsscognition wrote:More news on Wafer, apparently, there was an under the table agreement in place when he arrived that he would be waived.
"Wafer was originally signed to a 3-year deal and acquired in a sign-and-trade with the Boston Celtics. The final two years of the deal were not guaranteed. It was my understanding that when he signed with the team, there was a mutual agreement that he would be waived after the season and have the chance to pursue a better deal via free agency. Wafer would have been set to make ~$1.2M next season."
Is this the Game of Thrones or something, where everyone must act on their word? They'll probably resign him for 4 mil a year next week. Idiots.
