This has to be the craziest first day of free agency ever and it was only 6 hours. We have passed the $3b mark in money handed out with Murray's extension.

per Smitty, as of end of day 1:
Note this is BEFORE the Beverly and Bullock signings, so take about $13M off LAC's total and about $10M off the Knicks'.

Whilst some GM's are playing Chess, Presti playing Hungry Hungry Hippo, by himself.

If we see guys like Klay, Jimmy, Harris, Middleton all staying put, I'm not so sure there'll be as many BAE and Vet Min. bargains out there as we are being led to believe.
Following up on this, so many of the supposed good role-players on free agency have already signed since. There's still quite some money out there too.
I'm not seeing the Lakers has some sure-fire juggernaut even if Kawhi signs there. If the move really is for Russell to stay with the Warriors (and not be routed to Minny or somewhere else) I also don't trust them to fill out the roster that well.
This is really shaping up to be a completely wide-open year.

Fully agree, I thought guys like Hill, Robin Lopez or Ariza would be minimum, BAE or room guys at most, and all of them are getting over MLE type contracts. Teams relying on getting veteran ring chasers are probably gonna be disappointed, at least until buyout season comes.
On the other hand, I tip my hat to the Magic and the Pacers, cause in the middle of this craziness, they were able to secure awesome contracts to Lamb and Aminu. Really like those two moves.

Yeah still need to get a PG on the Pacers I believe unless they think Oladipo will be ready from day one which is unlikely. Or maybe they think Holliday is further ahead in his development than most us expect. Still a great off-season so far (the Joseph contract on the Kings is bad, nice dodging that too).
I hadn't even realized Hill and Ariza were already gone too. This is crazy.
Anyone has a reliable updated list of anyone still to sign?

Yeah Indy's overall offseason is shakier, I was just praising that one move in the middle of all the madness. Brogdon's contract is risky, specially cause they had to pay picks to get him, replacing Young with Warren is a bad move, and they're gonna miss Bogdanovic. But Lamb's contract was still a steal.

I think they just wanted to get younger while changing Young (lol wut) for Warren. Same thing with Boggie which wasn't particularly cheap either.
I really like what they're doing. If Warren pans out I see them as at least a strong playoff team for the start of next decade, with a chance at something more depending on how Oladipo returns and Turner develops.

Any chance Wiggins for DAR happens? With Wiggins going to GS. I could see GS thinking they could fix him.

I'd say the replacement for Thad's role is Sabonis (or Turner if you prefer). A lot of talk now of finally playing them together. Warren is more of a Bojan replacement.
It's going to be interesting to see whether the coaches view Brogdon as primarily a PG or primarily a wing. I tend to think the latter myself.

D'Angelo has to really tank his value or Wiggins play his up for that to happen. I can see Covington + salary ballast + a pick for D'Angelo happening once Klay returns to full health but the Warriors will have the pick of their deals with the contracts signed this summer coming up for trade eligibility and a lot of teams interested in a 23 year old Russell locked up long term.

I mean, maybe later in the year if Russell looks like like a not-so-good fit and Wiggins isn’t playing terribly. Probably not though.

So remaining big issues:
Kawhi
How the Butler sign and trade happens
Cousins
Porzongas
Extension for Ben Simmons
Danny Green
Marcus Morris
Who else?

Re: Random Rumor and General Offseason Discussion Thread
So... so far the losers of this free-agency are the Nuggets*, right? Right? Everyone around them but the Warriors are either improving or remaining at the same level. They have also already killed a bit of flexibility with maxing out Murray right away, plus I'm not to keen on the Millsap deal.
And yes I could put the Blazers as another team who got a bit worse, but just assuming they'll have Nurkic for the playoffs next season immediately makes them better. I like Aminu but I'm not sure how much they'll miss him.
*Knicks excluded because I think there context was very specific. Hornets don't even count for me as a team right now lol.

This is interesting, doesn’t the league have to determine what is unlikely? And does that change year to year?

The Blazers turned a non-shooting, ball dominating, Evan Turner into Kent Bazemore, who's a MUCH better fit. They re-signed Hood, who they only had for 1/3 of last season, and will likely be starting next year. Portland didnt make any big moves, but seriously improved their roster balance. Most Blazers fans are pretty damn happy with what's happened so far. Doesnt look flashy, but they're better
