Farmar: Bench poison?

Post#1 » by LakerZombie » Tue Apr 6, 2010 5:24 pm

Why is it every time i read a quote from Faramr all i hear is "if i had more minutes i might be more productive"?! I get that players need to get in rhythm but come on!? I like Jordie i think he has potential and is a very quick guard but you're a professional basketball player. You're on a squad that has all-stars and as are currently NBA champions!

Enough with the crying about more minutes. So tired of hearing that. How many other NBA or even D-League players would LOVE to come off the bench and actually produce for the Lakers.

And now i get the sense that the "Bench Mob" is now following Jordans example of how to go about things especially with Sasha's latest stint with the coaches.

I suppose i'm just venting and things arent as bad as they seem but it just frustrates me that our bench squad is incapable of hitting shots consistently :-?

To be truthful I think Farmar would put up better numbers and be more consistent as a starter getting 30 mins, but there is no reason he can't do that from the bench...

Personally he needs to be gone at the end of the season, both for our teams good and his own.

Thats at least what I like about Shannon. Dude doesn't complain and genuinely seems to be happy and privileged to be in the spot he's in. I'll take that over Farmar's attitude and Sasha's bitching any day.

From article in LA Times about bench mob...

http://www.latimes.com/sports/la-sp-lak ... ory?page=1

"You want to play basketball, man," Farmar said. "All of us want to play. All of us know we're good enough to be on the court. It's just a matter of the situation we're in and the team. That's the hard part of our sacrifice." - Farmar

""You might miss two shots and have a terrible game," Farmar said. "You go 0 for two, 0 for four and you didn't contribute. But, had you played 20 more minutes, you might have gone eight for 10. You never know how it's going to unfold." - Farmar

I still don't see him complaining about his minutes...

Are you f'ing kidding me? That's what you call crying?

I'm certainly no fan of Farmar, but that is pretty damn far from crying.

And I can't believe anyone would suggest keeping Brown over Farmar. Shannon SUCKS. I don't give a rats ass who feels privileged to play where if they aren't performing on the court. I suppose he should feel privileged making millions of dollars for no other reason than being tall and having the ability to jump through the roof. Oh, and he sure can dribble, can't he? Dribble dribble dribble. Long ass jump shot.

Ya my bad, hes not crying. I guess i just expect whether its 5, 10 or 20 mins, an NBA player is capable of being productive while on the court and not blow double digit leads forcing the already weary starters back in the game. :(

I really doubt we retain him. And i do think his attitude sucks, but he won't be the reason we win or lose.

If they aren't going to keep him, they should have traded him this past deadline. Now he will walk away for nothing? Ridiculous move. Mitch certainly is not doing much with the little things lately, little tweaks to keep us on top.

I'm paraphrasing but Sasha was quoted as sayin if the team is up he gets no mins, if they're down he gets no mins, if they're down 20 he might get 3 mins.

Not sure exactly what he said to the coaches but it was revealed that he was in bad favor with them recently.

And Danny Darko, i agree Farmar wont be the reason we win / lose but it'd be nice if Brown wasnt the only one just sucking it up making the most out of his minutes.

I think Farmar is gone somebody will offer him a spot for 1.8 (BAE) to 2.5 mil.
Brown is gone if he opts out of his 2.2 but stays if he doesn't.
Vujacic would be gone but at 5.48 nobody will take him.

I read alot about how deep our bench is and how talented and then these writers and tv analyst mention "they aren't producing like last year." Its the same bunch whats going on? what happend to the BenchMob!? I hear Hubie Brown say of Farmar that he expects him to be a starting point gaurd somewhere soon getting at least 16 points 10 assists a game. When I first heard him say this I thought he was talking about the other PG on the floor but that was Darren Williams... ooops!

I was blown away that they didn't. i do think this is a complacent Mitch issue similar to wasting our trade exception from Jumaine Jones or losing out on moving Vlade's contract the 2nd time around.

our biggest problem is our bench. unless they ramp it up we are doomed.
Only on realgm is 27,000 points, 5 rings, 1 rs mvp and 2 finals mvp considered overrated!

Remember, Ariza ended up starting for us, our bench sucked last year too, just a little less.
