Rutgers Coach Candidate: Pat Ewing Sam Cassell Eddie Jordan

Post#1 » by BballerShotCaller » Thu Apr 15, 2010 10:52 pm

Rutgers Basketball Program is at a Low Point. It can't get any worse. The Program needs a jumpstart, a shock back to life.

Patrick Ewing is forever campaigning for an NBA head coaching job. Its not on the near horizon for him. Ewing would get more mileage out of resurrecting the RU mens program to respectability in the NY Metro area.

I think recently retired, but well known NBA players attempting to climb the coaching ladder would get more mileage out of a 3-5 year program building effort in a major media market.

The benefits to the school would be increased attention that could help with recruiting.

See. Patrick Ewing did not get a single interview or mention for coaching positions with the 76ers, Hornets, Bull, or Nets.

He should have considered trying to elevate a program like Rutgers in the NYC metro area that has an abundance of media to raise his own profile as a HEAD coach.

Nobody sees Ewing as a HEAD coach.
