Our lousy ownership...

Post#1 » by parson » Thu Apr 29, 2010 3:02 am

.... is going to appear in the next couple of days with an interview saying how much they respect Mike Woodson and how they hope he coaches for us for years to come.

Anybody wanna bet I'm wrong?
My mother told me, she said, "Elwood, to make it in this world you either have to be oh, so clever or oh, so pleasant." Well, for years I was clever; I recommend pleasant.

Woody is almost definitely gone.

Maybe we should give Dominique a shot? He's involved with the club, and maybe he'll tell Josh to stop taking outside jumpers and threes in the closing minutes of a playoff game, and to be a man and destroy the basket.

I don't know why I said maybe, he'd probably ***** Josh out after the first practice.

Listening to Nique makes me want to vomit. They basically just made up a position in the FO for him out of respect. I love him honestly but I think he would be a complete disaster as a coach at any level.

No, not Dominique.

Okay, maybe I took it a bit far - Nique has a lot of questionable commentary too. But I really can't think of any available HCs out there I'd want. The best options would be JVG, Avery Johnson, or hiring Tom Thibodeau, IMO

Thibodeau's probably destined for the head job at BOS, don'cha think?

Likely, but if Doc decides to coach one more year, I think we could swing Thibs with a HC job offer.

I watch how Jerry Sloan develops youngsters and I bemoan our wasted 6 (6! 6! 6!) years with Woodson.

It's not too late for a HC to develop Teague and to wrinkle out some of the bad habits for the other guys. But yeah, it would have been nice if that happened before, instead of.... now.

You're kidding yourself if you think that they're going to bring Woody back now. Regardless of what you think of Woody's coaching abilities..the ASG would have come off looking HORRIBLE if the Hawks won 53 games, gave Orlando a really good series, and ended up getting outbid by a team like Philly for Woody's services. Now all of that is irrelevant because everyone(even the national media)is going to say the Hawks need to make a change after this 1st round debacle. They can just hire someone like Thibodeau to a dirt cheap contract(by NBA standards)and still come out looking like the "good guys" as opposed to the whole Seattle/Nate McMillian situation. .

The fans are calling for wooddy's head. They know it is a business and that if they bring woody back they are gonna lose a ton of money due to tickets.

I second that! Also, I'd love to see Doug Collins as our HC. Our head coach needs to be an X's and O's coach that can adjust his calling to the atmosphere of the game. You know... a REAL Head Coach!
