Draft a SF....move Granger to SG????
Worthwhile thought to put out there.
At the 10th pick the Pacers are going to have a few combo forward types who can interchange between SG, SF, and PF, ala a Danny Granger, so it beckons the question. Would you draft one of them and move Danny to SG more frequently?
Think it would serve dual purposes.
1. Way less PF play for Granger, keeping his body healthier playing against the likes of the Bryants and James, vs. the Garnetts on a night in night out basis.
2. Opens him up better at the All-Star ballot. He'll never be more then a reserve All-Star as long as James is playing SF in the East. Though you can argue Wade as well, but James vs. Wade at the ballot box and I'd try and see if I can take on Wade.

If you can get a Wes Johnson type player...sure. Aminu? Maybe.
Anyone else? Probably not necessarily worth the risk.

Anyone else? Yeah, Quincy Pondexter. Although Pondexter is a jump shot away from being a two guard himself.
Still playing my hunch here that Pondexter will rise up the board between now and draft night. And I still like him as much as anyone else that's been discussed for our first-round pick.

Wesley Johnson will go sooner than our pick, but I'd have to believe the Pacers would gobble him up if he slipped to us at 10. I have read a few different reports claiming he is a Granger clone, with better rebounding.
Actually he is listed at 6'7" and 205, measurables that would more than satisfy the sg position.
I don't think you'll see Granger play too much sg. If he wasn't such a stud on offense, he'd be more inclined to play down low because too many sg's have superior lateral quickness.
I don't see any other wings that I like at 10.
I like Gordon Hayward too, but in no manner should we entertain that thought in the lottery. Maybe in the late first we can pull off a nice p.r. move by getting him. Some teams will swap you a late first for an early second for obvious reasons.

Granger is pretty close to a pure SF, with inclination more towards PF than SG, in my opinion. He likes to get position inside, and he's got the height and shotblocking.

Xavier Henry is looking good for a SG as far as I'm concerned.

In our current offense there really aren't twos and threes just wings. that's not our biggest need but if that's what the draft gives us, sure I take a wing. it's Rush not Granger who would be pushed.

Agreed. As a big time Cuse fan, i do agree with the fact that Wes Johnson will be picked before our pick, probably even top-5, but if the Pacers did get him i think the wise decison would be to keep Granger at SF and move Johnson to SG. While he was with Cuse, Johnson said he was working hard for a possible transition and said many scouts told him he may need to be a SG at the next level.

Pacers should take the BPA and worry about the consequences later. We aren't in a position where we can get picky on talent.
That being said, I'll get on my soapbox and say I'd like to snag Willie Warren with a later pick.

I like Warren a lot, i think he's a Ben Gordon clone. He's not afraid of any defense, isn't afraid of failure, he will shoot til he dies. He could be a heck of a 6th man in the NBA and even a starter somewhere. I just don't think he's Bird's type of player though.... http://www.oudaily.com/news/2010/apr/12 ... -warrants/

Bird liked Ben Gordon though. If something will turn him off, it might be Warren's attitude. However, the Pacers lack playmakers in their backcourt, Warren would be one.

If Wes is there I wouldn't think twice. Aminu? Probably take him too.

I say we just draft John Wall because we're going to get the #1 pick in the Draft. (crosses fingers, toes, eyes, whatever else is possible)

Re: Draft a SF....move Granger to SG????
Another guy to think about is Texas's Avery Bradley.
Superb defender, but only 6-2, but makes up for it with speed and athletic ability. Very few say he'll be nothing more then a small SG at the pro level and that'll be his niche, but a few places say he does have PG skills, he just needs a year or two to develop them behind somebody.
O'Briens system I'm starting to notice favors combo guards at the PG spot more then a pure point.
Hence that is what Jack was and that's what we had last year with Watson and Price.

Johnson is probably 15 lb lighter, would fit SG better than Danny. Granger has the skills to play some G but in the average matchup,it would not be to his advantage. The best SG's would be a step too quick.
Some SG's are physically, more the typical SF,but some are closer to PG in size+ Quicks.
Were it Aminu, there's a problem in that he's built for SF,yet his skillset is PF. You'd basically be playing with one guard.
Indy has to lotto into top 3.....or is at 10. Wesley J won't last till 10. Aminu MIGHT, but figures for 7-9.
I guess a trade MIGHT be possible. If the draw today dropped GSW to #6 they might not want Johnson, really, and could trade down. However,if Johnson goes at 5,Monroe would be fine for GSW at 6. So...it would tend to be an on the clock move. Unlikely but one possible outcome.
CENSORED... No comment.
