mcnabb thrown under the bus again

Post#1 » by Pharmcat » Tue May 11, 2010 1:50 am

at some point it gets to a point where its really sad, this time its a eagles WR taking a shot at him:

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=5175025

this guy just never got appreciated in philly, from the day he got drafted (got booed there) and even now that hes gone, they still take cheap shots at him...for a guy who took them to a superbowl and 5 championships, i believe this to be really pathetic on the eagles part....yea he never won the SB for them, but they never gave him real receivers when he was making those runs

or considering the fact this is the franchise whose fans cheered while a opposing player was down with a bad neck injury, i shouldnt be surprised

I generally agree with your argument here, but I do find it troubling for McNabb that so many teammates have sniped at him and felt emboldened to talk about him so negatively, so publicly. It makes me wonder about how much of a leader he was/is and what kind of relationship he has with his receivers. I don't know if it's true in this case, but I do know some situations where the QB doesn't treat the WRs with respect or try to build relationaships with them. I do also know that back when that draft was building up the Browns were concerned about McNabb's ability to lead teammates in the way the coaches wanted--and they chose Tim "I cry when I'm yanked" Couch over him. It's very odd that so many people around McNabb have so openly thrown him under, because that's something that NFL players are real careful about.

I think this is being blown out of proportions. What do you want DeSean to say? He was being asked about his team and he was just giving Kolb a vote of confidence. McNabb said the same thing when TO was down with injury in 2004 season. McNabb said the team can win without him. That's exactly what DeSean is saying. I don't see anything in there that indicates that DeSean was throwing McNabb under the bus.

I'm sure DeSean knows that McNabb is a good QB. But McNabb isn't with the Eagles anymore. It's time for them to focus on Kolb. This topic isn't even newsworthy. It's just one of those cases where the media tries to blow up things.

i think its the fact mcnabb really never retaliates...i mean today he couldve taken a cheap shot at d. jackson and his toughness (ie not going over the middle), but he doesnt, he just takes the high road.

He said he was very happy with the trade and he thought they didn't lose anything by losing McNabb. That's aimed at McNabb right there. If he said something like he wasn't happy that McNabb was traded, but felt Kolb could step in to the starters role, then he is giving Kolb a vote of confidence.

What he said was just overly negative and focused on McNabb. You can build someone up, without tearing someone else down.

ive known this kid since high school. always talkin. came from a popular high school program here on the west coast, long beach poly, and trash talkin is a way of life over there. and the point to me is, why put yourself under that type of scrutiny? desean jackson if he makes any mistakes, will get pointed out with this situation. if the team goes down, media will say, "well what now jackson, howz that quarterback lookin now?" drops a coupla passes, "what happened desean, maybe mcnabb coulda gotten it to you better huh?" the kid doesnt need to dump more heat upon himself and his teammates with his talk, but unfortunately, he chose to do so . . . unnecessarily.

Considering that this has been happening for years now, McNabb is probably not the same guy in the locker room than he is to the media.
